I know there are four saurial species: hornheads, bladeblacks, flyers, and finheads. But I found this based on a T-Rex, and I think he could represent a fifth saurial species. https://d.furaffinity.net/art/adoptplanet/1745616265/1745616265.adoptplanet_1000071381.png
Yes it's from a furry site, don't worry he's armored, and yes I'm seriously thinking on bidding for it. But it's the best anthropormorphic rendering of a T-Rex type theropod I've seen. I'm thinking of adopting him and then work up some stats for him and his species of saurial. |

My point is that visually, there's not much difference between this t-rex dude and a lizard man or a dragonborn. If you didn't tell me it was a t-rex, I likely would have assumed it was a lizard man, or maybe a draconian without wings.
There are other dinosaur breeds that would be much more distinctive, if rendered into humanoid form.
Yes, I see your point. When I first saw the adopt for sale, I thought it was not a dinosaur until I had a better look at it. So it's a valid point. |

I dunno, whilst I don't dislike that dino-dude, I have to ask what separates it from 4E/5E dragonborn, or lizard men.
Well, to answer your question. This breed of dinosaurs do identify as reptilians, however what separates them from Dragonborn and Lizard folk is: * They don't claim descent from lizards, they are warmblooded (like Dragons and Dragonborn). * They have three toes, similar to a bird's toe design. Although artists have taken liberties in depicting dragonborn, the original Dragonborn reference had them with five toes. * They have scaly skin. This came from fossilized examples. * They are certainly more intelligent than lizard folk, after all. |
