 where did Drizzt get his magical anklets? ANd where did Catti-brie get her circlet (the heat vision one)
i would really like to know. OH yeah and did Cattibrie get Khazid'hea from Artemis Entreri, because i keep hearing about HIs gauntlet and his sentient sword |

Actually, I have quite a few friends who have suddenly become very big fans of the library system. Here in California they not only have books, but also stock CD's and DVD's for borrowing for up to a week. A friend of mine who's a bit less ethical referred to it as the "new napster".
I know that our libraries have web sites that let you look up whether or not a particular item is in stock in your local area. If not, you can still order it from the web and it will be shipped to the library of your choice. When it arrives, they will call you at home letting you know to come pick it up. Not too shabby a service and something that is free.
Personally, I want to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate my books. Then shelve them and dust them off in a few years and do it all over again. So, I buy paperbacks. However, given the exhorbitant rate that paperbacks are now selling for, libraries are a very good option for those not in the position to buy everything that they want to read.

I'm not as huge into libraries as I once was, oddly enough. But it's not a bad idea.
As for the used book store... For several years, I frequented a used book store that was just a couple miles away from my house. I got a great many books there, sometimes walking out with a stack of books for just a few dollars. For example, one day I picked up five or six Tom Clancy novels for about $3 -- total. One of those novels was The Sum of All Fears, which had hit paperback recently enough that it was still on the New York Times bestseller list.
For the cash-strapped reader, used book stores are a wonderful resource. |

Stereotypes aside, Egardrol, there are a few things you can still do. First, I've noticed that the libraries in my area stock Mr. Salvatore's books -- the only Forgotten Realms books on the shelves, actually. They might do the same in your area.
Second, check around for used bookstores. Being the treasure challenged wyrm I am, I tend to spend a lot of money there. You can typically get two for the price of one there. Some people have the strange habit of buying relatively new books, reading them, and selling them to the used stores. A stupid habit, in my opinion, but one that has served me well. To answer the first question, Drizzt got his anklets from Dantrag Baerne in Starless Night. In reality, those were actually bracers but Drizzt improvised to make himself run faster.
Catti-brie's circlet is NOT heat vision. It's darkvision. She received it from Alustriel, also in Starless Night, when Catti-brie went into Menzo to save Drizzt. Her sword, Khazid'hea was looted from Dantrag Baenre's body. The sword that that Artemis Entreri is Charon's Claw, two different weapons.
BTW, I'm curious. Did you actually read any of the Drizzt books? |
