It must give the ship a sleek, almost futuristic vibe while still keeping that magical, fantasy aesthetic.
Calling it the "light model" is perfect—it really paints a picture of a smaller, more agile vessel, maybe one built for speed or quick maneuvers. And adding some "goodness" to the sails? I’m intrigued! Are we talking intricate patterns, magical runes, or maybe a shimmer effect? I bet those pictures you took really capture the essence of this design. It sounds like something straight out of a fantasy novel or a tabletop RPG campaign. What inspired you to create this?
thank you very much. If you liked that, scroll to the bottom and just click the links for some quick looks at some other pictures I made.
About 4 or 5 years ago, I got on a kick where I wanted to learn how to make 3d objects. I also discovered Microsoft's Paint3d for windows 10, which was easy as hell to paint 3d objects with (granted, not fine detail .... but enough that I could paint a mini and take a picture of it without having to 3d print the object and make a big mess. If you go to thingiverse and search for sleyvas, you'll find where I made a lot of designs, and on probably 1/4 to a 1/2 of them I took some time to paint them in paint3d.
Now, I should explictly say.... my ability to make 3d things from scratch SUCKS... but thingiverse would let you take someone else's design (if they allowed it... people would give their permissions) and "remix" it. There is one guy that specifically makes D&D monsters too, and his stuff is amazing, and he would give the ability to make remixes, so I have a lot of things where I would take a minit and add butterfly wings, and instant faerie. Most of them don't 3dprint well unless you make them huge. But, I have a lot of things where I might take someone's say human wizard and then take a snake and combine them to make a snakewoman (whether it a yuan-ti, weresnake, or lamia noble.. it works) I made a lot of tauric creatures. So, like that ship, you'll find where someone made the ship, and I added the fins from something else, and the turtle shell, etc... Then when I painted them in paint3d, you could add decals, and someone here at one point had released a bunch of FR religious symbols for free use.
All my stuff I release for free use (just mention where you got it just like I try to do), thinking people might like to use such for DMS Guild entries etc... (and I've used my own artwork for most DMS guild entries that I make). I know some folks have taken my mini pictures and applied effect in paint.net to make them more like line art and they become much better looking.
I also made some "scenes", that you might like just looking at for a minute and I added a little quick story
Rakiki and the big blue nekkid bird https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4623864
rakiki and the teapot fiend https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4575220
mousefolk versus spitting firesnake https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4520117
SquirrelFolk riding Cervidae Folk riding elk while fighting gnolls https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4074321
There's also some "characters" that I made scense of for fun
Exiled Prince, Baelric the Honeybane, Bearfolk Curseblade of the Frosnibone Court wielding the sword Stormblizzard https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4593218
Squirrelfolk wizard with bag of tricks https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4064089
mousefolk swordsman on al-mi'raj https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4011624
mousefolk ranger on al-mi'raj https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4010248
In all, I made a little over 300 designs... some good, some bad... but it was fun to learn. |
