The curse of Malik in Return of the Archwizards has brought up a good point..........what is the worst D&D curse you've seen in gaming, roleplay or canon?

As my bard recently obtained the ability to cast Bestow Curse, I have to wonder about these things........the strangest thing I can come up with is a perpetual yawn that never ends.....the minuses to your charisma would be staggering.......!

I know a very strange curse. I don't remember about the source because it happened to one of my friends in another game;not mine.It was something like the curse of curiousness...I'll give you a very little example:
(party is on it's way to Menzoberranzan. They need an ancient spellbook created by the drow. They have limited time)
DM:As you are going to the north,as planned,Gelben;you see a little cave that you don't remember it was there.
(gelben is the cursed character...enterance to the caves that will lead them to Menzoberranzan is to the north,a 3 days walk away.Gelben knows about his curse, about the land and he is sure that there can't be a cave there.Anyway Gelben tries his chance)
Gelben:I don't care about the cave and go on by.
DM:(rolls a d20)No,you definitely care...

Not to mention the terrible muscle cramps in the jaws... Ouch!

Now that's an evil curse... just look at the many fairy-tales that deal with people gettingg their wishes granted...

Curses can be very nice additions to the game, but have to be used with care. Imagination can easily make a curse 'too powerful'. Sure, there's a good comical effect to having the 'wish-curse' as described above, however a player can abuse it to detrimental effects...

I personally would settle for minor, inconvenient or embarrasing effects. They have more of a roleplaying value and won't get in the way of game-mechanics or allow over-abuse.

i would have to say the spell effects of Tasha's uncontrollable hideous laughter every time someone looks at u, would be a good curse.
