Lucky guess. I would have looked for an Elaith wallpaper or perhaps Aliisza from WOTSQ.

You were seeing an Elminster wallpaper in your head weren't you?
The Sage Posted - 03 Apr 2004 : 03:42:03
Actually, I had first learned of this on the 31st March at 11:59 pm. It was sent by a colleague (and good friend) of mine from the actual Microsoft offices in the US. He recalled my interest in D&D from an earlier discussion, and simply could not resist sending me this 'April Fools' news snippet...

I was wondering what the April Fool's joke would be, but wasn't able to log on yesterday.
Arivia Posted - 01 Apr 2004 : 21:46:50
Nope, couldn't find that one, Sirius. I wish there was, though...Or the "Worlds Collide!" product on the ENWorld link was real...and FR came out on top...
Shadowlord Posted - 01 Apr 2004 : 21:38:53
I agree with Sirius. We need a "sarcasm/rolling eyes" smiley more than anything else...

And yes, since I first started reading that article, I thought of someone I know (name not to be revealed ) shouting "April Fools!" and jumping up and down... I couldn't help myself...

Its on the way, SiriusBlack, patience my dear scribe By the way, if any scribes have a particular smiley they wish for us to consider for inclusion here, then please send it over to my desk. Thank ye.

Find a link yet where WOTC admitted that the whole Eberron thing was an elaborate April Fool's joke started early?

LOL, now that's a good one.

No worries. ENWorld has a history of pulling stuff like this. This year isn't as good as the one year where it announced upcoming "Fake books" like Forgotten Realms Guide to Faerun fashion. Sad thing is, that one would be interesting or at least I thought it would be if it was ever created.

Wizards has done a very good job on the MtG April Fools articles. Gottlieb's 'shopped cards can be found in the Oracle database, and www.magiquethegathering.com is a redirect to the Magic main page. Although, there's enough evidence in the Rosewater special to indicate that might actually happen(Add the first letter of each paragraph together for something truly creepy.)...Oh, and if you're into IT jokes, User Friendly is priceless today.

You think it's a good thing?!?!?!
Microsoft isn't a role playing games company, it's computers. I thought wizard of the coast to be too big (pokemenon, magic,...) but it'll become just a big factory!

Oh Boy, a dream come true...

Just imagine: Forgotten Office 2004, the Elminster Help Icon, Espruar and Dethek as official True Type fonts, regional Desktop themes (Calimshan/Sembia for accountants and traders; Silver Marches and Lands of Intrique for travel agents; Undermountains endless passages for Programmers; the core rules, PGTF, and all supporting feats/PrC books for lawyers), Drizzt´s iressistable Scimitar Dance screen saver, Blue Screen to be avoided by wish/mirace only... I love it!!

Sounds like just a stepped up version of 3.0, 3.5, and of course the upcoming 4.0 edition.
