Posted - 11 Sep 2016 : 19:39:09 Does anyone have elevation data to correspond to regions and points of interest depicted in the northwest corner of Faerūn? I'm specifically interested in the area bounded by Waterdeep north to the Spine of the World and from the Sword Coast east to Anauroch.
I'm interested in information to help me answer questions like the following in a meaningful and consistent way:
- How tall are the peaks in the Sword Mountains? the Nether Mountains? the Spine of the World?
- Is the Dessarin Valley comperable to the Deschutes River Valley in central Oregon?
- Is the Delimbyr River navigable up to the Shining Falls?
- Is it reasonable to characterize Neverwinter Wood as a Pacific Coastal Rainforest? What about Kryptgarden? Is it in the rainshadow of the mountains?
I know as a DM I can just answer these questions however I feel best suits my campaign. I'm comfortable with doing that. I'm just asking to see if anyone has added elevation or other climate data to help define biomes somewhat more specifically than "hills", "grasslands", "mountains", and "swamp". My players include research biologists, naturalists and avid ecologists. I'd like to breathe some real life into some of my wilderness encounters for their benefit.
