Posted - 17 Dec 2015 : 09:33:26 I'm working on the Religion section of my alternate campaign setting and I've decided to do something drastic. I'm going to break up the huge continent spanning organisations that are the various churches of faerun, into smaller regional churches (although a few may remain as continent spanning behemoths).
So what I would like a hand with is getting a list of sources for anything to do with the various organised religions. So any mention of a temple or large staffed shrine, any mention of prominent religious figures, any mention of holy orders.
Name, sourcebook, and page number would be most appreciated. |

Posted - 08 Jan 2016 : 11:10:08 I came across this in the Candlekeep library and I have to say that it is a great resource although I don't believe it to be complete just yet; http://www.candlekeep.com/library/articles/temples.htm |

Posted - 20 Dec 2015 : 12:19:24 Well I've got access to just about everything having spent 20 years building my collection. It's just time consuming (something I no longer have) scouring the pages for every stray mention. The god books, lords of darkness, and champions of ruin will be at the top though |

Her faith on the island of Wa brought about the Juzimura Rebellion which was brutally put down by the shogunate. Worship of Chauntea (or Chantea as she became known by there) was declared illegal, punishable by death, and what was left of the faith had to go underground in that nation. Other countries tended to distrust worshippers of Chauntea, basically because they didn't fit the Kara-Turan schema of what is considered normal.
Interesting. Must have been a peasant/farmer rebellion…. since Chauntea is primarily an agricultural deity. |

Posted - 19 Dec 2015 : 14:24:49 Idk if you have access to 2e books like Faiths&Avatars and Demihuman Deities, however the NJ project has good info about various deities, mostly taken from those books. Each deity entry includes a section about their major centers of worship. Here is a list of their pages for the pantheons of the FR, from which you can access to the various gods pages:

Also, the FR wiki articles about the churches of Ilmater and Eilistraee include a good list of their center of worship.

Posted - 17 Dec 2015 : 15:03:25 For the time being it is faerun related only . If however there are temples etc to faerunian gods in karatur then they might prove useful so please mention them. |
