Do people think that "the Opening" in relation to the edicts of Coronal Eltargrim of Cormanthyr occurred in 220 DR when non-elves were allowed to settle the woodlands, or to the later creation of Myth Drannor in 261 DR when the city itself was opened up to non-elves? Just wondering what the consensus is. Cheers.

Nuts, both Alaric's are before the arrival of the Ffolk.

And the Corsair Prince supposedly revived the Nelanther Pirates in 1227 DR

Ooh, Black Alaric, thats a good one. I wonder if there was a Black Alaric around the time of Princess Bridgit and Prince Scothgar

Its annoying when people write in a vacuum. First thing I do when detailing a region is compile a list of all historical events in the adjacent regions so i can find out what is going on around it.

Yep, that's what I do, and then I come up with some interactions. Looking at your Moonshaes, I'd have them bedevilled by pirate raids from the Nelanther (and tie that in with some Black Alaric lore from Tethyr), Rage of Dragons stuff (there are a ton of dragons around there), and even some Calimshan/Shoon stuff as appropriate.

Now what is it that George found in the North/Netheril around 220 DR that requires a fix. Curious-er and curious-er. I'm beginning to think that this upcoming North project is gradually turning into a comprehensive detailing of the entire Forgotten Realms.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. The holiday season has seen the project sidelined for little bit. I haven't given Eric some of the stuff I promised, so I'm trying to get that done by the weekend - of course, my narrow little writing task has raised a few cans of worms. It's the nature of the beast.

Oh, and dazzlerdal, everything is connected in the Realms.

I'm off to read my Cormanthyr books now to try and figure out what is going on inside George's head, he's obviously got some fiendishly intriguing thought process bubbling away.

Very important. And not the answer I was looking for Steven Schend!

After I posted, I saw that GHotR codified it as 261 DR but I've just come up with a fix that works well.

Oh, and dazzlerdal, everything is connected in the Realms.

Think Earlann, dazzler.

Believe I meant it to be 261 when they actually were allowed into the heart of the realm i.e. Myth Drannor. Before that, it was simply an honorable agreement not to hunt non-elves within their woods.

For my money, it's the 261 opening of the city. That puts the non-elven races more in the faces of the elven populace, if you will.

I like it for the opening of the overall woodland. The elves who opposed it would see it as a fresh and garish wound; the opening of the city itself was far worse.
