Well,

Is there any word. I am getting worried that we will not see a book until late into 2015.

Seconded. Regardless of the rules, I'd love an awesome Realms setting book to sink my eyes into.

While i'm sure the 5th edition setting will be a slightly better attempt than 4th edition (how could it get any worse). It is not possible to achieve the depth of the realms as of 1371/2 in just a few years.

Therefore 5e will always be 3rd editions poorer cousin (lore wise anyway) unless they continue developing it for another 30 years (and given the increased turnover of edition releases it is almost a guarantee that wont happen).

Stick with 1371/2 (or 3rd edition if you prefer to call it that) and see if we can't get our old realms back.

Oh and the Campaign Setting should be released around December time so everyone can give it as a christmas present (especially given the probably price tag - who could afford to buy it as a normal expense).

It will be one of my prime objectives at GEN-CON to find out when it might appear.

My speculation is that it'll be announced this Holiday Season, and hit the shelves next spring. That should give the core rules a chance to cool on the shelf before putting another "major" book up. That way, anyone getting the core for Christmas will have a little time to play with it and save money/anticipate the Setting.

If you go to WotC they announced some campaigns in connection to their new Adventurer's League. They are 5th ed.

I'd expect GenCon 2015, if not before then.
