Posted - 18 Aug 2013 : 21:06:28 Okay so I want to show this a little bit, We have had the weave come crashing down a few times we have the far realms bleeding through in a few spots several planes have merged and gotten closer to the material plane. We have *theoretically * had lollth trying to bleed space and get into eberron Abeir sunk into toril leaving some of its stuff on our surface
Planescape and the like are coming back in 5e
I want to theorize that the crystal sphere that surrounds toril and the space that is it, has been damaged after all theses shifting and interruptions. An the sundering is the aftermath of all these unintended bleeding planes, and AO is restoring the balance . |

There is that archfey in the wastes - Hro'nyewachu in Akhrasut Neth (Frostfell) - and there is also the scene of the frescoes in an Imaskari ruin, depicting the Fey giving something to the Imaskari (its in Darkvision). Also, the Spiritfolk of that region (and further east) are half-fey, but ancient half-fey with solidified bloodlines (similar to 4e's Tieflings). In fact, my latest theory is that the Inoque (what I use to call the 'Shou interlopers') were actually spiritfolk from another world/plane. _____________________________________________________________________________________________
I would love for Mystra to take-on a more neutral/primal role (Mystryl) in the setting, and have Midnight come back as a Hecate-like figure for magic users to venerate.
And since Midnight gets a downgrade to an exarch, so too should Cyric and Kelemvor. They were creations of the ToT, and should be gotten rid of if Ao is truly resetting the pantheon.
That's the exact thoughts I have in hoping for what happens with Midnight, Cyric and Kelemmvor. |

I've had similar theories in the past, although not at all relating to the Sundering.
My thoughts were along the lines of why the Imaskari took the route they did - dealing with extraplaner beings and translocation magic. There is some lore regarding the Fey in the Taan (wastes) region - including dealings with the Imaskari - and I was thinking that the 'veil between the worlds' had gotten thin in that region, and that such magics - summonings and translocation - were easier to do there. The idea was that that the veil (which could be the same as the Weave) had gotten damaged by all the back-and forth over countless milenia (by the Fey, and whoever else).
So although not the same theory as yours, its along the same lines - the Weave/veil has been breaking down steadily, and now finally needs a major rebooting (in computer terms, not just the usually 'patching & upgrading', but a full-blown reinstall of the GUI.)
Come to think of it... shouldn't that mean we'll get Mystryl back, not Mystra?
What were all the major fey over in the Eastern Wastes that have been mentioned? I know there was a book with some gypsy-like Lythari (elf-wolves) and there's some mention of the LeShay. Then, the fact that Thay is filled with Centaurs makes me want to say they're some kind of crossover. I could even see the Thayan gnolls as some kind of fey crossover. Any others come to mind? |

Posted - 19 Aug 2013 : 17:19:16 Similar to what WotC did for M:TG Multiverse during the Timespiral block. Too much magic, especially planar magic has torn reality to shreds and must be restored |

Now that would be interesting. I've always liked that particular incarnation of the goddess...even though there's little lore regarding her. |

Is this canon?
I play DDO and played through the Menace of the Underdark Expansion and always wondered if the events are canon or not and exactly when are they set (post Spellplague for sure but when?).
Oh and btw Lolth didn't try to bleed space, she reached through the Demonweb Pits to an aspect of her on Eberron that was stuck at "powerful demon" stage (the "Spinner of Shadows"). Lolth opened a rift to let the Demonweb consume Eberron, merged with this aspect of hers after freeing it from his ancient prison and stole dragonshards to power some kind of ritual to become the new FR deity of magic. |

Dragonlance was licensed to them and then yanked away by WOTC when WOTC started to gear up for 4e, not to dissimilar to how they handled Dragon and Dungeon magazine with Paizo. I heard there was some bad blood as a result and that's why Weis/Hickman haven't written any Dragonlance novels since. |

Posted - 19 Aug 2013 : 04:47:44 I'm sure they'll reference any and every TSR setting, but the likelihood of them putting it on the production schedule ahead of the Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Dragonlance, is unlikely.
I think we'd see Greyhawk and Ravenloft before we see Spelljammer... but then again.. I never would have dreamed in my wildest of dreams we'd see Dark Sun before Dragonlance when they were doing 4e. |

Posted - 19 Aug 2013 : 03:52:24 Yeah they made references, just no real published (new) lore or adventures dealing with it. |

As good a theory as any, although WotC hasn't touched Spelljammer so it's unlikely that this theory will be used.
The last true and official nods to SPELLJAMMER were in the later years of 3e. But it did receive a brief tidbit or three here and there in 4e. Not much, I know, but at least we knew it still existed in the game. |
