Hello fellow scribes,

So fortified way-inns tend to line major trade routes in certain parts of Faerun if I understand correctly. In all these years, I don't think I've seen an actual map of any of these places detailed out with an inn, stables, rental stalls, covered wellhouses, granary cellars, shrine, brothel, and watch towers inside stone crenellated walls etc.

Has anyone a source of good maps for such places?

I was re-reading Ed's article Just a Typical Night in an Inn located here: http://wizards.com/DnD/Article.aspx?x=dnd/ftr/20120921

This article is so good, all a DM needs is a map to go with it and you practically have an adventure written for you. Now I know colored art maps are probably expensive, but maybe Ed has some black and white ones drawn up that haven't been used? And this could go for a majority of the Forging the Realms articles. I'd welcome hand drawn black and white maps with the articles, mainly because you can easily modify b&w and they don't kill printer cartridges.

What do you all think?

I wish Wizards had a suggestion box for Realms stuffs. hehe

PS Wizards: On page 9 of Ed Greenwood Presents Elminster's FR is a hand drawn map of Cormyr, the Dales, Sembia etc. That would be an awesome player's map handout. Please provide us with more things like that and in jpeg format for printing. Thanks. :)

This is so weird - I was thinking about this same subject about two months ago and considered making a map of one.

Then I found a decent example of one - The Bargewright Inn in Volo's Guide to The North. I figure they are all similar, although many might be somewhat smaller.

I also recently ordered replacements for my (Flying Buffalo) Citybooks from Paizo - EXCELLENT resources. I use the Forgeway Inn on pg.24 of Citybook IV: On the Road - it works very well (I even use all the fluff). I just picture a stockade around it, and a few outbuildings for livestock, horses, and what-not. Most (along well-traveled trade-routes) would have a large field nearby where caravans could camp.
