Posted - 16 Mar 2013 : 15:06:42 We are in the process of planning this again. Those who attended last year can attest to how many Realms designers and authors were in attendance. It was truly awesome. We are trying to figure out the best night to hold this, so stand-by. Make sure you keep this on your radar if you plan to attend.

As a side note: ...I also spoke to Ed yesterday and he put up this article on Loremaster. It is not specific to the Realms, but it can easily be snuggled in. http://www.loremaster.org/content.php?290-Anointed-of-the-Gods |

Posted - 10 May 2013 : 14:37:22 Yes, if you go to GenCon.com, on the left hand side under "Latest News" it has a link for the event listings. It's a large excel file. |

Posted - 10 May 2013 : 14:33:46 I believe the events calendar/catalog is now available on the Gen Con site. You should also be able to search for events by type and other categories. |

Fate of the Realms, Saturday at 4pm:
"Novelists R.A. Salvatore, Ed Greenwood, Troy Denning, Erin Evans, Paul Kemp, and Richard Lee Byers discuss The Sundering, and the stories still to be told."
No idea on taping. |

Posted - 09 May 2013 : 21:52:10 I might be able to do that. Early evenings at Gen Con seem to always be overbooked. It just depends on whether or not 6:00 p.m. happens to be a break between things. |

As it turns out, both seminars are exactly where they were last year.
Thanks |

Posted - 09 May 2013 : 16:46:31 The room where the Candlekeep Seminar is held is sometimes hard to find, but don't worry: if you go to the Fate of the Forgotten Realms seminar, there'll be someone there to lead a group over.

I see that the Candlekeep Seminar is Saturday evening at 6pm?
It's on my calendar! I look forward to seeing everyone there. :)
Yes. Saturday at 6pm. It's immediately preceded by the Fate of the Forgotten Realms seminar (from 4-6pm), just a few steps away at the Convention Center. |

Posted - 09 May 2013 : 05:31:34 I think its a safe bet that 5e will not be released in this years Gencon no matter how many people were certain it would be, ignoring what WOTC was telling them it would be in 2014.
What is more like is more focus on the Sundering books especially The Companions and the Baldur's Gate adventure/mini setting. |

It looks like WotC is planning another event for Thursday evening, which we don't want to compete against again. And Friday is difficult, because a lot of us designer/writer folks have ENnie related things to do. So at this point I'm looking into Saturday evening, actually. I hope that would make it easier for people to attend.
Thoughts?
Cheers
Im just grateful it's happening again, last year was great....so I'll show up no matter when it is! Any day and time is fine |

Posted - 17 Mar 2013 : 15:10:59 hmmm, haven't been to a gencon in.... maybe 10 years? It might be interesting to go and see what the campaign setting will be doing and the edition neutral ideas it will have. |

Posted - 16 Mar 2013 : 16:18:28 We're definitely aiming for early in the con. Once you get deeper in, it gets harder and harder to bypass the bigger events. It was good seeing you there! We plan to have 2013 Candlekeep pins this year like the 2012 ones we did last time. |

Posted - 16 Mar 2013 : 16:11:20 Matt,
Thursday night worked well last time except for the fact that you were up against the 'keynote' (I'm not sure you will have that problem again this year?) and you were far enough 'off campus' location-wise that people could get turned around easily trying to find the place.
For what it is worth, I thought that doing the event early in the weekend (Thursday or Friday) gave people a chance to 1) start their con with a great event that whet their appetite for attending additional Realms events throughout the weekend, 2) gave new attendees who did not know each other (or any of the panelists) a chance at an early 'meet and greet' that allowed them to pal up throughout the rest of the event, and 3) also gave fans a chance to meet their favorite author(s) early and thus connect with those authors again at the rest of their scheduled appearances throughout the show.
I know your biggest challenge will likely be finding a time that allows all the panelists to actually attend the event! So, I'm sure your potential windows of opportunity are few, but I offer my $0.02 to use if an early versus late scheduling option choice exists. Whatever you choose, my friends and I will be there, it really was that nice an event. Thanks again for putting it together. |
