Alright, so I work at a microbrewery in Warren MI and I suggested to my wine staff that we should try and make a real life version of Evermead. A couple of them are old school D&D guys so they loved the idea. Now however, I need to find the best possible description of the elven mead to try and come up with real world ingredients with. So,

Suggestions on sources? I know right off the bat I can find some information in the 2E players guide, but I'm not sure what it entails.

my friends Brett And Tia make Honey Meade in Indianapolis, NewDayMeadery.com.

they use local honey and fruits and it truly is wonderful stuff.

I highly recommend anyone coming to town for GenCon to give it a try. We try to stop in once a month and love to give bottles to our family and friends for gifts.

I am also a lover of mead. I prefer it above all other wines that I have ever had (good mead that is..crap is still crap). If this ever comes to pass, I would love to know.

@cbad285 - Sounds like a promising start. I'm not suggesting it not have a decent alcohol content, just that the taste of the alcohol be muted. One of the things I've always read about Evermead is that it tastes like nectar more than ale, beer, or wine and thus hits you hard without you realizing you'd been drinking. I can assure you that honeywine packs a punch, I had downed over half a bottle before I even realized it was making me drunk (and I'm a huge light weight when it comes to drinking). Lol.

We make a selection of meads from orange blossoms to wild flowers and a hand full of gingers. But none of them match in my mind what Evermead would be. From how i've always described it, the mead is aged, golden in color and sweet but not over powering in taste. However the alcohol content needs to be fairly high.

I've also considered making it nearly milk white in color.

-- thus far I haven't had much luck in mixing what we have, which just shows me I really need a firm grasp of what Evermead really is.

It is so delicate it doesn't taste like alcohol in the slightest, you might want to take a look at what goes into it beyond mere honey.
