Is there a monster at all, in FR that could pass off the look as a green furry humanoid creature?

Khelben Blackstaff.

Remember, however, Oscar was just one of many "Grouches" all green and fury. Grouches were like a sub-set of monsters.

Hmm, nature I would think apply, that is one that best looks like the "Oscar the Grouch" that is physical body, size and so on.

Not the nurture of Oscar that made him prefer garbage cans as opposed to caves or other domicile. The OP asked for the look, not the nurture or life choices.

A Shambling Mound?

I can imagine a tundra yeti scavenging off of the garbage heaps of Ten-Towns. Perhaps the dirt, refuse, and rot combine to turn its coat a nasty shade of green? If he were young enough, he might still be fairly small. And he might not be too friendly when the next townsfolk party rode up to dump their trash!

Taers are even said to give off a foul smell due to some oozing, oily secretion. And they revel in collecting human discards and calling it "treasure".

A shaggy-bearded garbage-loving gully dwarf could easily replace Oscar the Grouch, I think. It's less a question of being specifically green as of being a sort of raucous melange of nasty trashy colours (gang green, burnt hombre, bone blue, rusted apple, mustard metal, etc).

How such a creature could be found sullenly thriving in the Realms is a mystery resolved through only the most implausible of gully dwarf stories. I think a trip through portals within the foulest ragpicker heaps of Sigil might be involved.

[Edit]

On the planar note ... why not some impy junior fiend? An escaped familiar in hiding or somesuch.

Or some sort of one-off modified critter -- something that is actually some other type of critter, but has been altered. For example, in the novel The Elfstones of Shannara, Wil and Amberle encountered a little furry guy named Wisp. When asked what he was, he said he was an elf, but the Witch he served had altered his appearance.

Wow... that brings back memories.

When my oldest boy - now 23 - was just a toddler those Sesame Street music tapes were his favorites - there was the regular 'greatest hits', and then there was the 'monster hits' (which that song you mentioned was on). I must have listened to it 10,000 times. His favorite song was from the 'regular' songs - Put Down the Ducky, but Fuzzy & Blue came in at #2. Coincidentally enough he and I were just talking about that the other day (he still remembers it).

I like the suggestion, but I'd use a variant name, like Monsta, Muntser, or Monstar for them.

A Mongrelman would also work, if you wanted him unique.

Most of the ones suggested here are green only because they are covered in leaves.

While wooly was kidding, I'd suggest something more along those lines. Forget the green - green can be accomplished with a "subspecies" explanation in seconds, go for furry and ill tempered

I'd design a whole new monster called "monster" that had various color fur. This way you can also encounter the "Fuzzy and Blue (and Orange!)" ones as well.

I thought of the Ketch first as well, but I do recall something that may have been better - maybe a Wood Woses? (I think they were callled Nightshades somewhere). Not exactly what we'd want though (the Nightshade version, which is more like a Sylvan Dwarf). I'll have to do some research - Mystara may have had something.

I've been tempting for years to use Fraggles (from Fraggle Rock), and most of the worlds I have run I've imagied them 'somewhere', but I've never used them (crossing a line there, unless I make all three groups much creepier - the Fraggles, the Doozers, and the Gourds).

I would probably just create a sub-species of hairy goblin - an 'Urban Goblin'* that hides in trash and comes out at night and scavenges for food. I can definitely picture the Rat Hills filled with those.

EDIT: Going through the Mystara MM I found the Imps (the Bog Imp looks pretty good) and the Shargugh. The imps seem closer in temperament.

*EDIT2: Found something like this - the Forestkith Goblin (3eMM3). I picture an an offshoot thats become 'urbanized'. The Thorn from the same tome is also a decent candidate.

What about the 2e Greyhawk Beastman?
The Sage Posted - 22 Feb 2013 : 07:11:01
Every time I think about combining Muppets and D&D... I come back to this fairly decent basis for a 3.5e character class that could work in my Realms.

A quaggoth with its fur died green. Note: do not try this at home!

Closest that sprang to mind is the Kech, detailed in Monster Manual 2 (1st edition). I'm old school that way.

Description

A kech is an evil forest creature that misleads, snares, and devour humans. A kech is a green humanoid covered with leaf-like, leathery skin, with long arms and prehensile-toed feet that allow it to climb trees and swing through the upper branches.
