I was thinking about this at work today, but why can't WotC just come out with a magazine for just the Forgotten Realms? I feel like this one or two articles in Dragon/Dungeon Magazines is not doing it any justice (plus, it's all 4E and not edition-neutral).

Or just a magazine for campaign settings only. We can have Dragon for player content, like spells, feats, etc. Dungeon can be just for adventures and advice, and then a 3rd magazine devoted to solely campaign setting content.

I guess it's more a matter of so much lore being released slower than the pace of a snail carrying a brick is irking me. Life is too short to wait on more Realmslore!

FWIW, the Eye on the Realms articles are pretty much devoid of 4E rules and most of them are so edition-neutral that, were they whisked into the past and slotted into old, pre-4E issues of Dragon Magazine, a reader from that time wouldn't know any better.

Yes I have seen them but I was not thrilled with the topics. There were too many articles on very esoteric stuff like one particular noble lineage or some merchant house or a random ghost. I prefer more on ancient history, regions (like when they covered Vaasa), cities/towns/villages, or sites like a grove, graveyard, tomb, etc. or even an organization. I liked the Xanathar article but I didn't care too much about many others.

Yes, indeed. Alaundo's finally given the go-ahead for the next volume of the Compendium, and the regularly contributing staff are already brainstorming potential ideas for submissions.

Sounds like a great idea. Not knowing exactly how the future is going to shape up is a great opportunity to explore some of the past and that Silent Century.

Cheers

This is long what we've been trying to achieve with the release of each Volume of the Candlekeep Compendium. And since we are now relatively free to move forward again with the new and tenth Volume of this series, I'm sure we can all find some solace in a return to a kind of e-zine devoted to this world we all love.

I feel the same about the speed, but they have smartly throttled back on the lore and fiction until they figure out where the hell the ship is going to sail to.
It's hard not to get antsy and I really hope my enthusiasts still there in what three years when the Sundering wraps up?
