Posted - 07 Jun 2012 : 22:41:56 Maybe some of you are familiar with the kickstarter project that is going on over at Paizo and the world of Golarion.
The reason i bring this up here is because Ed Greenwood will be involved in the project. He will be designing a section of a book that will be created for the Kickstarter project. The book will be signed by Ed.
Just follow the link and participate if you are interested in the project.

Posted - 12 Jun 2012 : 18:06:11 You have good memories :) Ed was indeed involved in those books. For some reasons, it seems that when you stick Ed's name somewhere, sales increse :) And he does write very good gaming material.
I don't think we should worry though. I'm pretty sure his love is for the realms and he will always favor projects that involve them.
As for my native tongue, it is, indeed, french. French Canadian that is :) I don't live that far from Mr Greenwood:)

If I remember correctly, Ed was directly involved in the development of the River Kingdoms for the original Campaign setting, and he wrote monster articles for the bestiaries in the Kingmaker AP. So it was only logical to hire him for an extra chapter for the Thornkeep book.
And if memory serves, Ed also contributed to the original Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting as well. |

Posted - 12 Jun 2012 : 00:15:56 Pardonnez mon francais, mais le francais est votre langue maternelle alors? Personnellement, mon francais est terrible!
I can never tell where things REALLY go in Latin languages...or even germanic languages other than english! I swear it is the reason I stopped studying Irish language (me to teacher: "So wait...Irish uses the same letters as english...but they all sound different? What are you trying to do to me eh?) and went to Arabic!
I think they roped Ed in sort of last minute on this actually...I don't think they even had a clue that they would have so much favor on this project. The total was REALLY impressive and goes far beyond what they were expecting! |

Posted - 12 Jun 2012 : 00:03:26 Hello,
I'm ok and i agree with you. The implication of ED in the Golarion project is just for writing one of the dungeon levels for the Thornkeep book that promotes the kickstarter projet. I'm pretty sure his involvment in the project is limited to that.
And for what it's worth, i don't think Mr Greenwood will be the sole writer of the next iteration of the realms. I think his role will be more along the lines of traffic cop and integrity manager. I do hope that he will write more than the Elminster's Realms book that is announced for october. The announcement made by WotC is very encouraging but i will limit my enthousiasm until i see exactly what his role will be.
As for the developement of Golarion. It's going very well as it is without Ed Involved. His implication in the project was more a publicity stunt than an indication of his future involvment in that world.
Finally, i will try to detect your humor in futur post. English being a second language for me, it's not that easy.

Nope...at certain levels you get tons of cool goodness!
The initial push was to show that enough people were interested to ensure that investors would see a promising return...but it went FAR beyond what they wanted!
So now there will be a book that has an EXTENSIVE dungeon in it that the Game's Demo will be focused on. |

Yeah, pretty much. Dalor and Sage know me best, I guess.
I will say that every time I see Ed work on anything else - even his own campaign world and non-FR novels - I feel like we lost a little something in the process.
I like Golarion a lot, but its not the Realms. Nothing is the realms (not even the realms, these days ) 6 months to a year ago I would have cheered for this project... in fact, I was cheering for it just a month ago (still am - glad to see Rich Baker found a new home).
But here's the thing (all joking aside) - Ed is only human, and 'if' he is truly at the helm of FR now, thats a project that will take ALL off his super-human powers. Golarion, on the other hand, has a large number of dedicated, in-house folks working on it, freelancers (most of the 'official' guys here do work for them), and a fanbase (that makes us look like small potatoes) that also help to contribute to the IP (through Paizo-sponsored projects - something I would love to see happen with wotC and D&D).
In other words, Golarion desn't need Ed. We do.
But what I said earlier was tongue-in-cheek, so don't go away Patrakis - we know you love the Realms just like the rest of us (besides, I can't be last amateur Realms cartogrpher left - the world is just too friggin' big!)

Posted - 10 Jun 2012 : 02:31:43 I don't think Markus was directing this as a negative comment about your posting this here, Patrakis.
Instead, I do believe he was just making clear his concern for not seeing Ed become too involved in multiple projects at any one time... to the point where it might impact on the development of the 5e Realms.
For myself, Ed has demonstrated a significant ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time, and still deliver the "goods" in the classic-Ed-lore fashion. I can't wait to see what he comes up with for every project he's currently working on. |

Excuse me for being selfish, but the man is going to be PLENTY BUSY from now on. Take your little Golarion and be off with you - HE's OURS!!! |
