Posted - 15 Dec 2003 : 16:46:39 Ok im an avid fan of the RA Salvatore novels and ever since my DnD group started playing in forgotten realms ive realized the stats and weapons for him seem to be all messed up. Like a +2 defending dagger? what the hell is that? i can understand his dagger having a +2 defending quility on but they've just overlooked the vampiric quiality of it. several times in the books he has used it to return his health. in the silent blade(great book go read it) he kills 2 drunks and rips a crossbow bolt out of his chest and is almost fully healed. and cattie bree also uses it while in menzoberanzan and sucks the life force out of a drow. there are so many problems with it . he has permantent darkvision and the cloak of wings . what do you think he should have (weapons and equiptment-wise). just wanting some more opinions... |

Yes, if my memory is correct, that anthology was advertised featuring this new original story.

Posted - 27 Jul 2004 : 13:54:10 Ahhh yes, Jerlys, I know this book very well, because it's one of my Favourite ones. Starless Night. A bit more talk on the dagger though. Playing through that wonderfull game Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2, I was overjoyed to find out that Artemis Entreri is a playable character in this game as well. I think I played thais character to death, and yet again, they had neglected the life stealing abilities of his dagger. But now they have included that wonderful sword he has aquired, Charrons Claw. I really wasn't too impressed with there appearence of Entreri, but his abilities more then made up for it. I just have to ponder over what book R.A. Salvatore may have in plan for the Dynamic duo of Artemis Entreri and Jarlaxle. I think R.A. is leaving it on a back burner, but I hope he decides soon. |

Posted - 31 Dec 2003 : 18:38:46 !!!! Dude Jarlaxle is the epitomy of awesomeness. Hes like my second (Tied with his buddy Zaknafien) fav drow next to Drizzt. Also in response to the side note, I do believe it was in fact a Matron Mother. (Though I could be wrong) |

Posted - 30 Dec 2003 : 09:38:23 I loathe Jarlaxle.. He's just a step behind Saemon Havarian... I hate being used by fools like them...
On a side note I don't think it was a Matron mother, just a high priestess.... I would have thought more of a fuss would have been kicked up about a matron mother vanishing... |

Posted - 30 Dec 2003 : 09:01:07 It’s spelled Bregan D’aerthe, and pronounced “Breg-an Darth” -- or that’s how the voice actor playing Jarlaxle pronounced it in the game Menzoberranzan.
Rather talented, that performance, or so I think. Really hit my conception of the character dead center. Droll, arrogant, and strangely polite. |

Posted - 22 Dec 2003 : 01:04:49 What house was the Matron Mother from? I havent read that book. ______________________________________________________________________
right off the top of my head i dont remember but it is as soon as art gets into menzoberanzann. she attacks him with one of the cool whips and he lays the smack down on her and burys her. jarlaxle finds the body and uses it to his advantage(as he always seems to do) to get artimis to join Bregan De'there or however you spell it. i belive it is in the legacy. |

Posted - 19 Dec 2003 : 22:47:56 I think he got his dagger back. I heard from a fried while he was walking on the surface again with Jarlaxle( I can't recall the books name) Entreri found a long sword that absorbs all the magical energy. My fried told me that was the book which Jarlaxl was trying to find the crystal shard. And does anyone know if Jarlaxle still alive according to the last update in about 1372/ Year of wild magic |

Posted - 17 Dec 2003 : 20:56:27 Entreri's got cool weapons, and is an awsome character. In Baldur's Gate 2 I was playing as an assassin with only Korgan, Edwin and me. I killed drizzt & his companions with hardly any effort, tho I was lvl 34. Still tho....I think Entreri would've put up a better fight |

Posted - 17 Dec 2003 : 18:51:28 Yeah cattie bree did have it for a little while in the underdark but when Artemis helped them out he took it back. |

Posted - 17 Dec 2003 : 18:47:48 I thought Entreri lost his special dagger to Catti-brie? Or did he steal it back, and I'm just not remembering (which is likely, with my memory).
"Great idea for a character"?
Where have you been? My Jack Archer character is a fencer. I took the basic fighter class and turned it on its head. He can't wear armor, but those proficiencies have been replaced by some dodge bonuses.
I guess you could say he's "Dread Pirate Roberts" . . . without the mask or the wisecracks. Or the girl. Still, he isn't left-handed either. |

Posted - 17 Dec 2003 : 13:56:17 Well... There is more to the char of Wesly. Infact he was very cunning and smart as well. |

Posted - 17 Dec 2003 : 02:39:12 Finaly some recognition of Art's awesome ass dagger. Dude seriously.. That dagger is by far my fav distinctive weapon. But nooo everyone I know only gives credit to Drizzt's IcingDeath and Twinkle, even the mention of Arties dagger brings them to laughter.. Those sad basterds.. Arts dagger is so jawesome... Ok Im done on my rant, but yes it should have been somthing better than a +4 Defending I believe it is in FR 3rd. Though I dont play 2nd edition I think I will be using the weapon stat for his dagger from 2nd |

Posted - 16 Dec 2003 : 22:47:23 He has easy and fast moves and bocks everything that someone who knows every single attack form of fencing there is, and has mastered to boot.
thats pretty cool and hed make a good char but i dont think hed be a great fighter. the differance between a warrior and a weapons master is imagination, not simply knowing all the combinations and routines. great idea for a char though. |

Posted - 16 Dec 2003 : 14:17:48 You know who would have made a great char in FR? Wesly from The Princess Bride. Yeah yeah i know its a comedi love story. But think about it. Wesly boy is great with just one sword. Can use both hands, however is superb with his right hand. He can block multiple attacks and even switch which hand his sword is in multiple times in combat lol. He has easy and fast moves and bocks everything that someone who knows every single attack form of fencing there is, and has mastered to boot. Not to mention said "master" has done nothing save eat, drink, sword play, and of course use the bathroom, for 25 years. Now that would have made a great character. Wesly AKA the Dread Pirate Roberson ( who knows which number he is since so many people have been Roberson lol). |

Posted - 15 Dec 2003 : 21:08:01 Actually in the 2nd edition version of the popular assassin he is weilding a +4 dagger, defender (life-stealer),and a sword of wounding +1 (sometimes referred to as a saber). He is also wearing a +4 Cloak of protection and a +2 ring of protection.
