If you could pick any two characters from Realms fiction and have them face off to the death, who would you pick and why? Also, who do you think would win the battle?

What about Mauzzkyl vs Eliath and Entreri??
Dennis Posted - 05 Dec 2011 : 16:55:19

Antrysn. Unless Quenthel's ever-fickle goddess gives her a huge boon.
Drakul Posted - 05 Dec 2011 : 16:33:27
I am curious as to who you think will win.
Dennis Posted - 05 Dec 2011 : 16:02:56

Ah. I thought he's some fan-made character.

In that case, isn't it [kinda] obvious who's going to win?
Drakul Posted - 05 Dec 2011 : 15:57:27
Antrysn is Xorthaul's son.
Dennis Posted - 05 Dec 2011 : 14:59:38

Antrysn Barriath? Who's that? FR Wiki says very little of him.
Drakul Posted - 05 Dec 2011 : 14:48:21
Antrysn Barriath vs Quenthel Baenre

Mauzzkyl Jaezred vs Eliath and Entreri

Hadrhune vs Rivalen, before his transformation to exarch.

Lady Polaris vs Lallara Mediocros, before the former turned into an obese caricature of herself.

I'd actually like to see Catti-brie v. Dove Falconhand.

All the possible entertainment value of specific levels of dress and/or undress and pools of jelly aside, I think this match up provides a lot of room for speculation about who would win.

My preference for gingers aside, I'd think, in the end it has every possibility of being a draw if you give them each mundane equipment and take their magical items away.

Otherwise, I think you could make a case for either party.

You could speculate Catti-brie would win because training against Drizzt has given her some insight into a Ranger's battle tactics and fighting against his nearly supernatural speed and balance would necessitate a high degree of skill to even be able to be considered a sparring partner.

Others might suggest that Dove would win because even trying to balance them with mundane equipment so that it's skill vs. skill and not who has the better items, doesn't change the fact she's still one of the Seven Sisters and thus a Chosen of Mystra.

Thoughts on the match-up?

Good Hunting!

I'd like to see a laraken and a phaerimm fight. [With an aboleth as the referee.]

No Dennis, what you are describing is what the Twilight vampires do

Entreri can hardly handle a single exceptional drow ranger, no matter how often they battle, no matter how much time passes. You'd think he would've just hired a competent crew of warriors and mages and assassins to attack Drizzt (or his companions) and just have done with it. He's not a truly formidable nemesis, just a tenaciously unkillable recurring one.

Forget Entreri's chances against Drasek Riven, assassin, shade, and divine Exarch/Chosen of Mask. Perfection of style and puissant skill at arms are utterly insufficient for the task. He might as well try duelling the wind.

Gotcha. That was why I prefaced it with "I know admittedly little about Riven right now". Ok, now I know.

Riven is now a demigod. So, obviously, he'd crush Entreri with scant effort.

lol, not quite a Demigod. Kesson Rel was a 0 level divinity being(Quasi Divine. lowest form of divine being), thus he is a fraction of a quasigod.

Regardless, to Riven, Entreri is nothing but an insignificant ant.

Do you think authors get a kick out of threads like these? Seeing scribes discussing which character can kick another characters arse and thinking "I created that guy/girl etc, he kicks booty"!
I know I would lol.

lol. Did you ever hear the MP3 of Salvatore discussing this before an audience?

He actually dislikes questions like that haha.

Lol, good link. "If I ever get to write about Elminster, I will kill him"!

Agent 47 vs Jason Bourne. Battleground: any place where there are no civilians.

[Am I on the right thread?]
Dennis Posted - 13 Nov 2011 : 13:23:52

Alassra vs Iyraclea. Though given that both are favored servants of two greater deities, 'tis possible that their patrons may interfere overtly.

By killing blow, you mean "Destroyed his phylactery". The only way to kill a lich(Destroying their body does nothing, as they reform very shortly after) with the help of an entire band of epic level characters. It was not like it was some 1 on 1 battle.

In any case, it all depends who is writing it. Bob's style is exciting, and tends to fall more into the "my characters are invincible in combat" style, as opposed to authors who use a different approach. It does not mean that those characters are the end all of fighting in the realms.

The unfortunate honest truth in the realms is that prepared high level magic users(Not the simple fireball/lightning guys you see in Salvatore books. I mean real wizards) are pretty much unkillable in single combat by non magic users. Liches even more so since, well, they cannot be taken down permanently unless you know how to find their phylactery(Which are usually hidden and warded so powerfully against scrying that only an equally powerful Wizard who knew where to look could find it) So they are probably not the best folks to throw in a deathmatch unless it is against another magic user.

I think you confused this thread with the one about the autors we hate

Anyways a little hint, there is no story about the war in Damra between Zhengyi and Kanes group by Salvatore...

Kane, Gareth, Zhengyi, etc are all characters taken from the bloodstone lands module of 1st Ed DnD by Douglas Niles and Michael Dobson, and Salvatore did an updated version revamp of the module

For the record, I love Bob :)
