Wooly, Sage, my apologies if this is posted in the wrong place. Please move it if necessary!

Hi All,

I’m wondering whether any Candlekeep Scribes would be interested in joining me for a one-on-one Forgotten Realms campaign, playing a Harper agent on a series of exciting missions across the length and breadth of Faerun.

I want to set this up as a Play by Chat game, specifically using Yahoo messenger. I live in South East Asia, GMT +7 hours, but thanks to the nature of my job I’m online semi-regularly at all different hours of the day, so there’s some flexibility with play.

I’m looking for a player who’s interested in role-playing above monster-killing and loot gathering, and has a feeling for the spirit of the Forgotten Realms – although intricate knowledge of Realmslore is not essential.

The campaign will begin in 1367 DR. Waterdeep is likely as a main base of operations but the aim to take the character all over the Realms in a series of stand-alone adventures, the first of which will take place in Ruathym. We’ll be using D&D 3.5 rules with a couple of very minor homebrew tweaks, and we’ll try to stick to ‘canon’ Realms as much as possible.

Your character is the Harper agent Cael Crownfisher. Cael is 8th level and is human or half-elf (not half-drow). You can make him any class, although remember that the majority of Harpers are rangers, bards or wizards. Prestige classes are also allowable, as long as the requirements are met and Cael doesn’t exceed eight total levels.

Anyone interested should send me a private message at the Candlekeep site for more information and a couple of extra character creation guidelines.

Thanks!

Hi Sill,

The character is predetermined to the extent of his name, gender and race. With regards to the name, that's due to a pet peeve of mine - I like the character to have a suitably Realmsian name so that the campaign is immersive. That being said, perhaps I'm not giving Candlekeep scribes enough credit! The race restriction is partly linked to the name I chose but more to do with the nature of the campaign - the character is a Harper. A PC who's a half-tiefling/half-dragonborn blackguard would be a difficult fit for the feel I'm looking for, and would be hard pressed to accomplish some of the espionage based missions the Harpers will send him on.

However, none of those elements is set in stone. If the character would work with the campaign then anything is game.

I am not sure. Do you mean that the character is predetermined?

I'm still looking for a player if anyone's interested!

After thinking about this a bit, I think the time differences between us would be to great for a chat game. Sorry.

Yea, that's what I kind of figured. Hmmm, well, let me think about it a bit more and I'll give you decision, shortly.

Hi Kuje, that would indeed mean a 12 hour time difference!

However, depending on the schedule you keep that might not be so problematic. For example, during the week, I don't usually work in the mornings. So it would be easy to run a session at 8 o'clock; only it would be 8pm for you but I'd be eating breakfast!

2 Hours ;)

I might be interested but the time differences could cause a lot of problems for a chat game.

Help me figure out the time difference from Eastern and that might help me a bit more to figure out if it'll work out. It's five hours ahead from Eastern to GMT, so what would be the difference from GMT +7? Would that mean it's seven hours ahead or twelve?
