Hello, umm just have a question, when shapechanged into something else whatever that might be, (your choice and mine), at least wizard 20thlvl am i still allowed to cast spells from my own list or do i just use the SLA of the creature i shapechange into.

No, they're all (Su) abilities (Supernatural), which Shapechange grants. |

Might want to check this link out.
When PHB2 was released in 2006 WotC put out 3 sets of erata on the polymorph spells from the PHB IN ONE DAY...
That was when WotC basically said that they weren't going to support those spells(Take a marker and blot them out ) and created the Polymorph sub school. Pretty much it's one spell for each creature. Instead of one spell scaling...
Pathfinder followed the same model from PHB2...

But eldacar the abilities you speak of from these shapechanged form sound like SLA. I thought they were not allowed??

There's no need. If you're a caster capable of casting 9th level spells, you have many spells that are much more useful than simple melee. Maw of Chaos, for example, Time Stop, and so on. Shapechange is useful because it allows you access to a vast array of supernatural abilities.
Just a hinting of the sort of power Shapechange can grant a 3/3.5 wizard:
- Greater Teleport at will (Archons)
- Turn others within 30' to stone (Abyssal Greater Basilisk)
- Extra standard action/move action each round, allowing for an extra spell cast (Choker)
- Balor powers (vorpal longsword, flight, grappling deals 6d6 damage to grappler, true seeing at will)
- 50 mile telepathy with any intelligent creature (Formian Queen)
- Analyze dweomer, clairaudience/clairvoyance, contact other plane, detect thoughts, discern location, find the path, foresight, greater scrying, legend lore, locate creature, locate object, tongues, true seeing, vision, all at will as free actions (Elemental Weird)
- Can deal 40d6 fire and divine damage each round, regenerating you to full health each time (Phoenix)
- Inflict a Mordenkainen's Disjunction-like effect with a bite attack (Spellgaunt)
- Always be invisible even if attacking (Spirit of the Land)
- Grant Wishes (Zodar)
- Take two rounds worth of actions every single round (Chronotyryn)
- Constant freedom of movement and permanent invisibility (Shator)
- Absorb magic directed at you (Nishruu)
- Immunity to Force effects (Force Dragon)
That's not all. There are many, many more.
As to using magic in gaseous form, you must be able to make the necessary somatic motions and speak the words in order to cast the spell. Feats like Silent Spell and Still Spell can remove the need for this, of course. |

Yeah, in 2E, if you shapechanged, per the spell, you got all the abilities of the new form. So if you shapechanged into a troll, you'd regenerate, if you shapechanged into a vampire, you could turn to mist but would be vulnerable to sunlight, and so on.
To me, this is how it should be. Otherwise, the spell is a glorified polymorph. |

Umm, what Edition are we talking about 2nd, 3rd, or 4th?
In 2e you get all the abilities of the creature. In 3rd you get only Ex and Su abilties... not sure if 4th even has the spell, but I'll look. |

Yes, you can still cast your spells if the assumed form can do it (has hands and can speak).
You don't use SLAs of assumed creatures. Never.
Read the spells description. Everything is there. |
