Has anyone done this? Made a sourcebook for the Forgotten Realms based on the decade old Computer Game?

I mean; all the characters have D&D 3.0 statblocks, and I'd expect it would be easy to screenshot the maps, and there's also the NWN Wiki and other sources of info on the game.

I'd expect there to be a fanmade sourcebook for it, but I've never seen one (though I made a Cover for a DVD case for my NWN that looks like a D&D3.5 FR Sourcebook cover.)

[Edit] Expect in that I'll be surprised if nobody has done it, not in that I demand it be done. lol.

If the answer is no; maybe I'll take a crack at it. I don't want to reinvent the wheel though; if It's already been done.

Set 100 years into the future of a world completely unlike Toril, which means it'll just be a Neverwinter completely unlike the original... I'll pass.

I'm glad that you like it, Sage.

EDIT: Exams finished, I will be returning to the Baldur's Gate Lorebook. And keeping you updated on the progress.

EDIT: Kagain done. And Keldorn.

Zireael, I can help you with the layout for the pdf if you like. I even made a few potential covers for it if you want to use them .

cover 1
cover 2

Anyway, back to the OP. I started on converting the original NWN campaign to a 3.5 adventure but I never finished it. Maybe if I'm able to recover those files I might continue.
Zireael Posted - 04 May 2011 : 18:14:14
Gorion is a mage with a few levels of loremaster thrown in.

Faldorn and Garrick are done.

EDIT: And Haer'dalis and Imoen.

E: And Jan Jansen.
Hildifons Posted - 03 May 2011 : 14:55:08
Can't wait to see this. I have always wanted more details about Gorion. I never figured out which class he was.

Okay, that's good news, then I'm going to translate it slowly. Aerie, Jaheira, Gorion and Sarevok are already done.
What a pity I don't have the file with myself (I'm at uni right now)...

EDIT Again: Translated Ajantis... I'll keep you updated on the progress. Note that some characters will need slight reworking.

EDIT: Translated Anomen and Cernd. E: And Coran and Dynaheir.

Edwin and Eldoth are done.

Should I describe something else than the characters? What about the Bhaalspawn template? About the areas that are traveled?

EDIT: I've started translating and it goes faster than I expected.

A question:
1) Where to host such a lorebook? I don't have an account on DeviantArt...

EDIT 2: I've assembled the entire section on Characters, and it's nearly 80 pages in Word, TNR 12.

If you have Microsoft Word you can make pdfs. Just click on Print, and select Bullzip PDF Printer (I think this is standard anyways - might be something similar instead). Instead of printing it will create a PDF.

It's not standard.

Word 2007 and 2010 will create pdfs without any additional software. Earlier versions of Word need third-party add-ins to do it. I've been told there are free ones, but I've never had a reason to look, myself.

Always looking for more FR lore. As for helping, what sort of help do you need? I'm happy tp lend a hand, but I'll need some sort of instructions.
Zireael Posted - 13 Apr 2011 : 18:10:03
The walkthrough has stats for AD&D - I converted them to 3.5 D&D.
And a description was not hard to make.

So? Anyone interested in such a lorebook? Willing to help? What would you want to see in it?

I think they might have stats in the walkthrough but no not a full stat and description.

And the Polish descriptions were part of something else entirely, but I could translate and reuse them if we were to create such a sourcebook/lorebook/whatever you call it. Something like Snowblood's Ilythiir or Aryvandaar.

Is there a Baldur's Gate Sourcebook?

Yes there was. There was also a cluebook for BGII. There were also cluebooks for Tales of the Sword Coast and Throne of Bhaal. All were published by Versus Books.

Good luck in finding any of them. They are long out of print. Remember, BG was published in 1998. I think your best bet might be one of the on-line walkthroughs for the game. There are several good ones on the web. I like this one for the amount of information it holds, and this one for the maps. I'm certain other scribes may have additional sites that may be even better.

Good luck with the project. Will you be doing it only in Polish or will you have an English translation as well?

There was also a World Builders Guide for Neverwinter Night. I don't have it, and I have no idea what it's content was.

Pretty much explains the basic functionality of the Builder with step by step examples of stuff you can do (kind of like a text book for Visual Basic in high school - from my experience anyways which is 11-12 years ago).

I've got all the NPCs save Alora, the Five and some of the other important characters (Gorion, Sarevok, Tamoko, Amelyssan) statted and described in Polish...
Sylrae Posted - 10 Apr 2011 : 04:58:02
I'll have to see if I can get copies of those then. :) Thanks. That sounds like it'll be quite helpful. (Save me from having to get all the maps myself.)

You're right. They are two sourcebooks for the initial version of Neverwinter Nights. I have the Official Adventurer Guide and it has all the maps from the first game. The maps are very detailed and seem to be complete - i.e. every map used in the game.

Hope this helps.

I think the hardest part will be collecting half-decent maps of the city. It'll involve alot of screenshots, and then drawing over those screenshots.

Layout wise; I imagine I'll copy the order of the sections from the Waterdeep book, unless someone has a reason not to or has suggestions for things to include that they left out in Waterdeep.
