Posted - 07 Feb 2011 : 12:38:48 Hi everyone, I just wanted to finally share an article I wrote a few years ago. It's about Anauria - the survivor state of Netheril. I had penned it originally for the Candlekeep Compendium, not long before the release of 4E (so there is a bit of 3/3.5E mechanical info in there, basically NPC stats, regional formats, and regional benefits). Anyways, we all know the status of any Compendium, so I put it in PDF format and might update/add to it in time. My friend is allowing me to host it on his site. You will note that at the end, I put down all the references I used for my research to have the most accurate, non-contradictory information possible, but omitted one important one. The fact that i first checked with Ed through THO to see if he had anything in his own notes about Anauria beforehand (he didn't have anything). So I give you: http://www.folaji.com/upload/other/anauria.pdf
Constructive criticism is appreciated. Cheers! |

Posted - 28 Feb 2011 : 13:20:04 On another note, the file will be updated soon (I will let you guys know when) because I found Xun'Qoroth (Beholders of the Anaurian Hive) while reading Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark, so I added a brief passage about it (maybe I'll expand further at some point)and added the appropriate reference. Also, I put some 4E rules regional benefits as well. And I cleaned up the map to make the political boundary of Anauria as well as the font for it more legible (made it green as opposed to yellow which clashed with the sandy colour of the map). |

Inspiring stuff! It's great to see such effort being put in. I'll have to have a closer read later.
My only piece of constructive criticism is that perhaps the names of races should be capitalised; thus Netherese rather than netherese, Chondathan rather than chondathan. A minor grammar point!
I think I was going with the format of the 3.xE FR products, which didn't have those capitalised IIRC but I will go back and check and adjust if needed. Thanks! |

That's correct. I think there may have been mention of it in Giantcraft as well (I may have accidentally ommited it in the References but it seems familiar, hard to remember specifics of what I did 3 years ago).

I haven't had time to read this yet, but I will make a concentrated effort to do so - I am very interested in this region.
I haven't read most of the fan-based netbooks produced by scribes here, much to my embarrassment. Some of it has to do with my developing my own setting, and I don't want to get accused later on down the road of 'stealing ideas'. |

Posted - 26 Feb 2011 : 16:34:19 I like thw Cloudlands! Are they from canon or your own invention? I'm not really familiar with this area of Faerunian history! |

Posted - 25 Feb 2011 : 16:52:25 Finished reading Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark. Looks like I got some extra work to do for Anauria in creating the original lairs of the Beholders of the Anaurian Hive. |

Thanks for all your hard work. This will come in very handy for my Stonelands campaign, as I intend to have the players head north into the area of the survivor states.
I'm thinking about detailing the other two eventually. Just haven't had the time or inclination to do so lately.
I will also probably add more detail to Anauria itself. It's the biggest of the three, so maybe I will write up a bit on the other two and then add more focus on Anauria. Anyways, hope it does come in handy for ya. |
