Posted - 01 Jun 2010 : 16:20:02 I'd say that statistically, more elves use magic than humans. Nearly every elf can use some sort of cantrips or at least low-level magic, while the number of humans who do is much smaller- obviously, every human farmer or merchant does NOT have access to magic, where most elves do. They simply see it a s a natural part of their being, where the humans don't view it that way, and must work harder to learn it. Most humans simply don't have the natural talent and discipline to learn it.
Edit: stupid error message showed up.... |

Posted - 29 May 2010 : 07:59:40 If I remember it right, in EL IN MYTH DRANNOR, the Coronal once mentioned to a lord something like he himself had once gone to a magefair and saw how powerful some spells are that are devised by humans and that they (the elves) should never underestimate them...It's like saying, (or sort of) “Through the years, in their desire to slake their thirst for power (which ultimately is achieved through magic), the humans have grown as powerful as we are.” So, while it may be true that the elves used to be more powerful than the humans (say, pre-Netheril time), I think both races are on equal ground now.

Posted - 18 May 2010 : 03:35:25 Depending on Edition, Elves are magical. It follows that they have the greater ability to be arcane spell casters then humans. In some ways it could be argued that all of them are spell casters, just choose not to use the powers. Humans and the other lesser races need to earn and learn magic. |

Posted - 17 May 2010 : 23:35:06 Hm. It's always stated that elves have more magical aptitude then humans. I'm sure there are far more higher LEVELED elf wizards then human wizards. Sure, some of the greatest wizards in Faerun are Human, but I still think in mass level wise, elves beat humans. Human might have far more number of wizards, but they are low level. |

Posted - 15 May 2010 : 12:28:35 Depends on how you look at it i suppose. In general, elves tend to be more naturally attuned to magic and the weave than humans, although humans have every possibility to become wizards and sorcerers, but there are certainly more humans than elves. So it comes down to racial numeric ratio i guess. |

Posted - 15 May 2010 : 12:25:32 Since the elves have gift for magic, there are more sorcerers and wizards in elven race, but humans win by their hunger for knowledge. Most new spells are invented by humans. |
