I know that some materials can be lighter than usual. Is mythril chainmail classified as light armor or Drizzt is just cool? If yes are there materials that are heavier than regular armor? |

Spell failure chances for armors and shields made from mithral are decreased by 10%, maximum Dexterity bonus is increased by 2, and armor check penalties are lessened by 3 (to a minimum of 0).

If one makes an arnor of Mithral (not Mithrill) it counts as one size/wieght catagory lover than it would normally be. And to name e few hevyer metals: Gold and Platinum. |

Mithril has been, since Tolkien first wrote of it, lighter and stronger than steel, hence its value. ("Mithril! All folk desired it. It could be beaten like copper, and polished like glass; and the Dwarves could make of it a metal, light and yet harder than tempered steel. Its beauty was like to that of common silver, but the beauty of mithril did not tarnish or grow dim." - Gandalf)
As for anything that's heavier, nothing springs instantly to mind, and I don't imagine any materials heavier than steel would be particularly popular, at least among the normal PC races. |
