Posted - 14 Aug 2009 : 03:07:47 I'm setting aside this scroll for any particular FR news our Candlekeep scribes may learn from this year's Gen Con.
I thought it best to have just the one discussion scroll, making it easier for interested scribes to find exactly what they're looking for.
Let's hear from those of you who were lucky enough to attend this year.

That's what he said. I later conversed with him to confirm, and he confirmed: that is indeed the working title. (I'll leave Ed himself--through the ever-lovely THO--to say more, which I don't think he can at the moment.)

I can imagine Ed having fun with EVERYTHING, but this, especially.

Funny story about the Galena mountains that was shared by Ed this past week. But, that's for another scroll at another time ;)
This adventure, as discussed (so I can talk a smidgen about it), will be in the Moonsea North area starting from Phlan and extending all the way to the Tortured Lands. Beyond that, I am not privileged to say ;) |

Anything by the Bros. James gets two thumbs up in my book.
quote: Next "standalone series" of novels (a lá The Wilds, etc] will be The Planestouched.
And more good news. New Realms planar-lore. This makes my day.
quote: The Ed presents Waterdeep series is essentially ongoing, and may continue more or less indefinitely so long as there's still a demand.
Interesting. I'd like to see which authors could potentially become involved in writing for the series.

Speaking of Westgate and its shady inhabitants, I also have an upcoming DDI article, co-written with Eytan Bernstein, on the Eye of Justice, which might ring bells for those who've read Downshadow . . . Don't miss it! (October, I believe.)
That sounds awesome. Now all I need to do is read Downshadow before October.

Just got back and I am completely worn out . WotC announced the Realms adventure that Brian R. James and I are writing called "Monument of the Ancients". As well, they talked about content that is coming out over the next year or so- mainly novels. I'll try to post more after I get some sleep. I averaged my sleeping schedule for the past 5 days at 5.7 hours per night. :)
that sounds like what I averaged per night for the last 15 years LOL |

Also, Ed leaked the working title of a book he's got in progress: Elminster Must Die
Dun dun DUN!
Cheers
*P.S. If you are also of my ilk and want to see a long-overdue writeup of this awesome place, make your voices heard, people! Demand Westgate! (And possibly mention me as your preferred writer, if you like. ) |

Posted - 17 Aug 2009 : 19:51:32 Posted this in the wrong scroll! ---- Realms seminar! Okay, in no particular order, just stuff I remember while I'm popping in between mowing the front yard and the back:
Mark Sehestedt's name is HUGE on the proposed cover for book one of new trilogy.
They announced the Bros. James upcoming Dungeon article set north of the Moonsea.
Chris Tulach talked about LFR a bunch, including announcing that the next "mini" campaign (they've got a new name for it, LFR Explorations or something like that) will be set in Undermountain.
They polled the room on what other cities people would like to see covered in article series like the ongoing Akanűl pieces: people mentioned Shadowdale and Waterdeep, of course, I proposed Nathlan, and Erik S dB got a big roar of approval when he proposed Westgate.
Next "standalone series" of novels (a lá The Wilds, etc] will be The Planestouched.
The Ed presents Waterdeep series is essentially ongoing, and may continue more or less indefinitely so long as there's still a demand.
Man, I know there's something else my ears pricked up about, but, the BIG one was that Ed described his upcoming Dragon column series. Sounded pretty freeform, with no "series" theme. He mentioned that it'll all be stuff that you can drop into your Realms game, and might be a trend, an NPC, a small organization, any number of things. He's drafted twelve and I think he said he's turned in the first-round rewrites on three of those. Yay! |

Posted - 16 Aug 2009 : 03:01:43 Ah, thats much better. This ["] was what I wasn't adding. Still used to the Wizards way of posting links.
Thanks Sage.
BTW, I read at Enworld, someone pulled a fire alarm at Gencon so they had to evacuate the building earlier. Either a prank or it was legit. |

I think we've been over this before, Brim.
Anyways, just follow this simple function:- link-name-here
Just replace the * with " and you'll have your HTML link.

Well, I am not in the Con, but I just find the new about the next year setting...
Dark Sun is one of my favorites... It is good to see it again.
And, for those that not read it yet, here is the link
It sounds as if they're not going to have the prior novels be canon. And that disappoints me, because I enjoyed those novels (at least the Prism Pentad; I've only read one other DS novel), and I'd like to see the ramifications of those events play out.
The fact that they mentioned deliberately sitting on the setting for a while makes me wonder just how far back 4E was being planned...
The interview linked specifically says they'll be including the Prism Pentad, to take full advantage of its reprints. |

Posted - 14 Aug 2009 : 23:34:29 Awesome news, have been waiting for a proper release of dark sun for ages.
Edit: Cover Image
Also WoTC is probably like Microsoft, they start making the next version the moment they release the current one. |

Posted - 14 Aug 2009 : 22:24:07 Well after reading the Enworld thread. Alot of people are happy, VERY Happy that 4E Dark Sun is getting the reboot. They dislike the 2E shoehorn.
I may have to start getting some older Dark Sun materials fron Nonbleknight, to check out the setting.
Wizards (Bill S.) is even saying that they will TRY to not shoehorn the 4E Conceits in 4E Dark Sun.

Wasn't that question answered a while back, when, basically with the release of 3.5, designers wanted to design 4e? 2003 or so? |

Posted - 14 Aug 2009 : 21:41:49 That Dark Sun cover looks nice.
I figured it would be Dragonlance, with the anniversery and all this year. |

************************************* P.S.: yes, Sage, I know that the post is about FR News, but man, is Dark Sun.
And, if this could count to relate FR and DS, both settings suffer great changes in the hands of Troy Denning´s novels. ************************************
Now, back to wait what will came from the FR Seminars... |
