Posted - 03 Jul 2009 : 22:08:13 I´m not 100% sure whether this is the correct forum for my query....
I have a question I hope my fellow scribes can help me with. I´ve had my eye on the old issues of Polyhedron over at Paizo´s site, as well as from some other locations, but, despite the really good prices for the mags themselves, the price for shipping them to Germany is an absolute killer for a poor little student like me *g*.
So, what I´d like to know is, whether the content of Realmslore in them is worth the steep shipping fees for someone who owns almost all of the 2nd Edition sourcebooks and accessories. I´m referring especially to Ed´s articles on Mulmaster (#63-68), Zhentil Keep/Zhentarim (#82-86), Clandestine Company (#95)and Turmish (#96-107 with breaks)and Steven Schend´s "Adversaries" (#93) & "Cult of Ao" (#94). I assume the Eric L. Boyd´s "Forgotten Deities" articles are covered by the three books on Deities from 2E.
I´d be glad for comments from those that own/have read said articles.

Is there something like DragonDex for Polyhedron? I'd love to know which issues to look for, if I happen to see one on paizo or somewhere.
There's a small (and not complete [afaik]) index at Acaeum.com |

Posted - 13 Jul 2009 : 11:42:33 I have always been curious as to what Turmish lore in Polyhedron contained and how much of it there were. The information in the Vilhon Reach book has always seemed a bit hollow to me. |

Posted - 05 Jul 2009 : 19:01:26 Sadly, the United States Postal Service recently got rid of its international surface mail services. The M-Box tariff in particular used to be the ideal way to send heavy boxes of books slowly but cheaply. So these days, I think you'd need to know the captain of the slow boat personally. |

I've never directly compared them, but yes, most at least of the articles made it into the books.quote: Originally posted by Malcolm
I got to read through a friend's collection of POLYs a few years back, and as far as I can remember, all of Ed's articles are "extra and above" what got printed in any 2e book, except maybe Cloak & Dagger (which I don't own).
Yes; some of the Zhentil Keep and Turmish material is in Ruins of Zhentil Keep and Vilhon Reach in abridged form, and most or all of the Vast articles were included in The City of Ravens Bluff.
Are they worth it? How much money are we talking about? It was certainly worth my membership of the RPGA at the time. |

I just saw them at 3 bucks each on the Paizo website.

Ed's articles are by far the real gems of all the POLYHEDRON content. I count the Zhent-stuff among my personal favourites, along with those Turmish articles. Note, however, that those last articles covered the countryside, not the cities.
Steven Schend's "Adversaries" long provided lots of intriguing and useful tidbits for my Realms campaigns of the time. And his 'Cult of Ao' material remains the most detailed source about them.
Eric's "Forgotten Deities" is well-worth it too. Though it's been a while since I've read it, I do remember that you can expect a lot of what makes Eric's Realmslore always such a fun read.

Sage and Wooly should be able to set us straight on this impression of mine, though.
I've only got a couple of Polyhedrons, so I can't help.
I really wish they'd make those digital. |
