hello

I have been reading the stuff on drow from paizo's pathfinder. It got me thinking about drow and demons. For those not familar with what Paizo did to the drow, they made them demon worshipers and not following a particular goddess, such as lolth.

Now then, I have some questions about drow and demons.

First would their be cults of various demon lords, ie graz'zt or Malancath in Lolth dominated drow cities?

second are their tieflings of drow ancestry? not dreagloths but instead a drow who say mated with a sucubbi or incubbi or a balor or any other demon?

Third what kinds of demons serve Lolth? I know of Yochlols, bebliths and myrlochlars but what other kinds of demons serve Lolth and consquently could be called by drow priestess of Lolth

There are, of course, a dozen or two more choices at hand.
In my online drow campaign I recently used a marilith fiend of blasphemy (Fiend Folio) of Rhyxali, the Princess of Shadow, based in a "Vhaeraunian" settlement beneath the Forest of Mir.

Drows worshiping Archdevils? A demon prince I could understand, or another chaotic god for the realms, but a devil? I think that would be more than a rare occurrence, more like a single exception (which he'd better keep secret) per city, at best.

As has been said, the default drow is "neutral evil", while all of his deities have been CE from the very start. Drow society has been painted CE too, but only after the ascendance of 3E did we see the IMHO strange one-step-rule with regards to divine worshippers and their deities. A quick look into AD&D sources (Demihuman Deities) tells us, that Lolth did indeed have LE clergy too. And, of course, a society would not work if every ounce of law and religion would be CE 24/7. The latter novels as well as the default alignment of drow in 3E made great inroads in the archetypical view on chaotic drow society ... only for Drow of the Underdark to happen by and present the old and quite unfeasible picture anew.
Anyway, I wrote who might be interested in which fiend lord above. It was and is by default quite rare that there are many worshippers of a non-"state" - religion in a monotheistic drow settlement, no matter whether they are worshippers of other deities, Abyssal Lords or Archdevils.

Actually, although individual Drow are very chaotic, their society on a whole is caste-oriented and quite lawful (it has to be, otherwise they would have all killed each other years ago). Also, Asmodeus seems like the ideal choice for male Drow wishing to get as far away from Lolth-based and female-ruled Drow culture, especially now with Vhaeraun out of the picture.

The first Demon that springs to my mind is Zanassu, a minor demon lord who claims suzerainty over spiders. He had some dealings with the Shoon Imperium, and then was destroyed (absorbed, actually) by Selvatarm.

However, with Selvatarm now dead, you could always say that Zanassu was finally able to reconstitute in the Abyss (isn't that the rule of thumb? Outsiders come back on their home plane whenever they are destroyed on the Prime?).

Or you could just say that the part of Selvatarm that was Zanassu simply escaped during the Drow god's destruction. Either way, you can use him again with Selvatarm out of the picture.

There are a number of fiendish lords which would spring to mind for drow to worship, pending on the respective drow's interest. In Lolth - dominated cities, these cultist are/would be, much like any other deity's followers, a rare occurance. Elsewhere, this might not be the case, especially in places where religion does not play a dominating or important role in society. Usually, I would assume, followers of fiend lords will not go for domination, but rather drawing powerful people away from the worship of the established faith, to gain a foothold in the material realms. They tend not to become powerful enough to subjugate a whole society or settlement.

The idea of drow being demon worshippers isn't actually anything new.
