This is something I've been wondering about. If a character needs a prerequisite to gain something, does that character need to have had that prerequisite all through the previous level? That is, the base attack bonus, the numbe of skill ranks . . . that all has to be in place before the level up, right?

If it makes you feel any better, I had a crazy notion about how the BAB's worked in regards to Attack and Damage rolls. It turned out, to be a carry over from my CBT games.

No, I was just wanting confimation on this. See, when I was originally working my way through the stats, trying to learn all the things, I did the opposite. Then I recently realized I was probably working it all out to be one level lower. The more I thought about it, the more sure I was; but since I'd spent so long thinking the other way, it was a hard habit to break. I figured I ought to at least ask the question, to get it over with.

That is mostly correct. Why, have you seen a situation where this is not the case?.

PrC are the best examples for prerequisites, and requirements. This is how I have always thought this particular aspect of D&D worked.
