Unfortunately, I don't have confirmation on the Eberron, just a rumor from a friend who loves Eberron like I love the Realms.
Thanks for the clarification. |

I'm actually pretty sure this will happen. My friend was telling me that for Eberron, they are planning on rolling back the years (in other words, it will be closer to the end of the Last War) from where the setting currently is when they release the books next year.
If you thought jumping forward a hundred years was bad, can you imagine being told all the stuff you've done for the last couple of years never happened?
Or at least, hasn't happened yet.
Still, I must admit I'm surprised.
PS: I too am saddened by people calling Ed Greenwood a "sell-out". |

It is not just that, Ed has specifically stated that he would rather be on the raft and trying to help steer it rather than off it and in the water (or some similar analogy). He is trying damn hard to try and keep the Realms a place we will enjoy, even with Hasbro mucking about in it. Whether this has worked or not, I appreciate his effort in doing so.
Yes. You've got to give him respect for that. All these people calling him a sell out and such need to lay off him. I appreciate all that he's done, and is trying to do for Faerun. I still hold out hope that perhaps there will be an alternate reality version of the Realms for 5E where all this crap that diminished the Realms turns out to be some nightmare of Elminster's! |

Posted - 25 Aug 2008 : 20:06:14 Sara is a longtime marketing person for Wizards, teaches martial arts, runs a female roller derby team (!) and is a mother of some years (so she'll LOVE reading that "pretty young lady" comment). She and Ed know and like each other much, enjoying teasing each other at conventions, and had to do that interview in a hurry because Ed had to rush off to the Paizo booth to do a WORLDS OF THEIR OWN signing. So that's why it sounds like a "rah rah" puff piece. (NOTHING is scripted or rehearsed; they literally stand behind the Wizards booth, the camera guy says, "Rolling," and they burst into converse. I know; I peeked at this from the loading dock, as it was being taped. Ed's slight hesitation is when he noticed me flashing him some flesh. ) Ed is indeed determined to do all he can to keep the Realms as good as possible. What and how, he's still trying to find out. But please, please don't write it off as "wanting to keep his job." Right now, it's best to think of things this way: aside from part-time at a local library, he doesn't have one, okay? love to all, THO |

Posted - 25 Aug 2008 : 19:07:44 That was fairly interesting although I didn't gain anything new from the interview. Who is Sara Girard? Anyone we should worry about over here in Europe? Or just some random interviewer-type person?
Edit: Ed has a great beard! |

I totally agree--I appreciate even though the official Realms truly is FUBAR as far as I'm concerned. |

Posted - 18 Aug 2008 : 17:52:22 Heh heh, it seems like they've always got pretty young ladies chatting Mr. Greenwood up in these things.
Ed's actually looking pretty good these days. Seems like he's lost some weight. |

Posted - 17 Aug 2008 : 20:57:35 It's always interesting to see the man himself. But as far as content is concern, nothing very interesting for me. I can't blame the guy though. He needs to write and make a living so if it's $e realms that bring the bread and butter, then $e realms it shall be.
