In that ancient time, the woods—where present day Hadreth’s Glen is found—was just another wide draw, lined with pine and aspen trees, running out of the eastern edge of the Teshan Mountain foothills. This section of the forest, visited only by the grazing wildlife or wandering fey, remained peacefully unmolested until a star came crashing from the heavens and tore a burning scar through Arcorar over a hundred miles to the south. The Twelve Nights of Fire, as the event became known as, set plans into motion that would forever change this patch of woods.
During the Twelve Nights of Fire, an elven druid of the Leaflord discovered the core of the deadly star amid the rubble of Uvaeren while battling fires. No larger than a dragon’s egg, the smooth ebon stone oozed a red light. A hasty soldier who strayed too close to the stone was enveloped in a chilling, grey mist that sucked away his life, leaving behind a shriveled husk of the elf he once was. The druid named the stone Daoin Areal and sought a place to hide it while his circle determined a means to destroy it.
The fey of the Rystall Woods agreed to sacrifice one of their hidden grottos to prevent Daoin Areal from falling into the hands of evil. Much to the displeasure of Coronal Mhaenal, Daoin Areal made its way towards the Rystall Woods and was placed beneath present day Hadreth’s Glen in a small cavern. The only access to the cavern was via a crossroad that started within the hollow of an ancient, crooked oak. Because of a lack of confidence in the fey, Coronal Mhaenal stationed soldiers around the oak and an elven village soon developed around the crossroad to service the soldiers. This village became known as Areal Gisir and survived until Rystall Wood fell to giants and orcs in the Year of Gleaming Frost (-64 DR).
As the elven magic faded and the trees and stones regained their natural shape, Areal Gisir faded into history. For over a century, the woods surrounding the crossroad to the Daoin Areal Grotto remained as they were before the Twelve Nights of Fire. When The Ice Queen’s army destroyed Myth Ondath in the Year of Chasms (633 DR), all knowledge of Daoin Areal was lost to those outside the druidic circle that kept its secret and a few fey of the Border Forest.
Hadreth’s Glen, as it is today, was established as a military outpost by House Morn to keep the attention of the growing Shattered Stone tribe of orcs away from Dagger Falls. Construction of Fort Orcskull, at it was first known as, was started in the Year of the Haunting Harpy (974 DR) but it took nearly a decade for the fort to be completed. Building was often halted because of raids by the orcs or attacks from the fey inhabitants of the forest. The soldiers and workers of Daggerdale put themselves in the middle of a war they didn’t even know existed. Since the time that the orcs invaded the Border Forest, the fey and the Shattered Stone Orcs had been fighting for the southern portion of the woods. The orcs often sent raiding parties into the human controlled lands of Daggerdale in search of supplies and weapons to continue the battle against the fey.
Fort Orcskull eventually was raised by the Shattered Stone Orcs in the Year of the Flaming Dwarf (987 DR). There were a number of attempts to rebuild the fort over the next few years, but there was little success. In the Year of the Second Son (1006 DR) a large push by Daggerdale soilders reclaimed the ruins of Fort Orcskull and with the help of Hadreth the Feytouched, one of the Nine Druids of Cormanthor, the Morns secured a uneasy truce with the local fey population. The first years of the alliance were plagued with mistrust and it nearly fell apart were it not for the presence of Hadreth. In the Year of the Hunted Whale (1013 DR) a large force of orcs burst from the surrounding forest, slaughtering the Daggerfolk that lived in the forest surrounding Fort Orcskull. The powerful magic of Hadreth and those few Daggerfolk who escaped the initial carnage, scattered the orc hoard, but not before the Shattered Stone Orcs burned the fort to the ground and slew Hadreth as he stood at the base of an ancient, crooked oak, amid the burning timbers. In memory of the leadership and sacrifice of the druid, the survivors renamed the clearing Hadreth’s Glen.
The Shattered Stone Orcs have never made attacks against Hadreth’s Glen of that scale again. In an agreement with the Zhentarim, the orcs wasted what strength they had left in a failed assault upon Dagger Falls in the Year of the Gauntlet (1369 DR). But the fey have filled the void left by the Shattered Stone Orcs. Year after year, the woods surrounding Hadreth’s Glen have become a very deadly place for Daggerfolk to set foot. It has been over a decade since the last time a citizen of Hadreth’s Glen has gone to or received an elven visitor from Tachepp. Even after the capture of Dagger Falls by the Zhentarim in the Year of the Highmantle (1336 DR), Hadreth’s Glen was left alone by the Zhents as a backwater village not worth the trouble. This did afford the Freedom Fighters a haven during the rebellion.
As the years went on, more and more Freedom Riders have lost their lives to keep the roads to Hadreth’s Glen open and it recently became apparent that the fey were not acting alone. The dwarven Greatanvil Clan from the nearby Tarkhen Hills have helped keep the roads leading west and south out of the town open, albeit dangerous, so that their ore and wares can get to market.

NOTABLE NPCS
VILLAGE COUNCILORS
Artem Dorgoff (NG male Damaran human aristocrat 1/fighter 5), Lord of House Dorgoff, Elder of the Council, and owner of Dorgoff’s Ale House: Artem is a large man, both in height and in girth. Much of the muscle that made him such a good warrior in days-gone has sagged over the year, giving him a rather paunchy appearance. His face still has the weathered, leather look of a man that spent many years in the elements. As if he was still sitting astride a horse in the blazing sun, his eyes are in a perpetual squint. Blessed with the gift of gab, Artem makes friendships easily and knows much about the goings on of all for miles around. When without current events to discuss, Artem can entertain for hours with true stories—with a little “spice” thrown in—of battles won and love lost throughout the history of Daggerdale.
Hartel Martist (NE male Netherese human rogue 3/fighter 4/cultist of the Shattered Peak 5), Cultist of the Shattered Peak cell leader
Jaegreth (CG male Vaasan human cleric of Lathander 6), Dawnbringer of the Temple of the First Light: A stunningly attractive man in his early fifties, Jaegreth has the eyes of a man who has loved, been scorned, and loved even deeper. He keeps his lustrous, ebon hair pulled back into a thick pony-tail accentuating his widows peak and graying temples and gives him an almost feral look. During the summer months, Jaegreth often wears the light, see-through silks of the Lathanderian clergy, preferring golden hues trimmed in red velvet. When colder weather settled in the Glen, Jaegreth often adorns his adventuring garb made of yellow tinted leathers. No matter the weather, Jaegreth always wears his pendant belt emblazoned with the holy symbol of Lathander.
VILLAGE WATCH AND MILITIA
Sauk of the Glen (LN male Chodathan human warrior 5), sergeant of the Freedom Riders: Thin, dark brown hair hangs down to Sauk’s lean shoulders. His grim eyes add more weight to his perpetual scowl. Too many times has he seen fellow Riders die in battle with the Border Forest fey. Sauk knows he can’t win against the fey and purely focuses on defending Hadreth’s Glen and keeping his Riders alive.
Vagrhal Halftooth (CG male half-orc fighter 6), commander of the Hadreth’s Glen Militia
Lipp Kron An (CG male half-ogre barbarian 4), captain of the Hadreth’s Glen militia
Others of the Freedom Fighters: Barbarian 2, barbarian 1 (2), bard 1 (2), fighter 4, fighter 2, fighter 1 (3), ranger 3, rogue 2, warrior 5, warrior 3, warrior 2 (2), warrior 1 (3), wilder 2 Others in the Hadreth’s Glen Militia: Barbarian 1, commoner 2, commoner 1 (12), expert 2, fighter 2, warrior 2 (2), warrior 1 (3)
GUILD LEADERS
Lerihaer Redleaf (LN male half-elf expert 7), master of carpenters
Chase Gavrielov (CN male Damaran human expert 3/ranger of Kozah [Talos] 1), master of woodcutters: Chase is the elder brother of Grand Dawnknight Cyril Gavrielov. When Gavriel, Chase and Cyril’s father, was killed by fey while cutting wood northeast of Hadreth’s Glen, Chase’s life took a directions completely different that that of his younger brother. Chase, in his late teens at the time, left Hadreth’s Glen after becoming angry that the militia was unwilling to go after his father’s murderers. On the eastern edge of Anauroch, Chase encountered a hunting band of Bedine and was taken to the Saiyaddar as a prisoner. He was forced to serve as the slave to a priest of Kozah and was slowly befriended by the priest. During a trip to another tribe near the Scimitar Spires, the Bedine that Chase accompanied was attacked by the brown dragon, Axlitis. Chase took this opportunity to return to Hadreth’s Glen with the skills he learned under the Bedine and take his vengeance upon the fey of the Border Forest.
Sayra the Huntress (LN female Vaasan human expert 4), mistress of the hunt
Aphrill Karess (LN female Vaasan human commoner 5), mistress of merchants
RELIGIOUS LEADERS
Cyril Gavrielov (LG male Damaran human paladin of Lathander 7), Grand Dawnknight of Hall of the Aster: Cyril always appears exceedingly tired and his bluntness, seeming glib at times, reflects his fatigue. Grey stubble covers his once strong jaw that now seems weak beneath his sagging cheeks. He is a man that has given up on life, but not willing to admit it to himself. Cyril is often adorned in breastplate armor, forgoing the greaves, despite the constant pain the weight causes his hips and one knee. During the retaking of Dagger Falls in the Year of the Gauntlet (1369 DR), Cyril lost his right leg from just above the knee to a Zhent fighter.
Jadrund Matamer (CE male Vaasan human werewolf cleric of Malar 4), Lord of the Hunt: Jadrund has an outlaw ruggedness about him that many young women find exciting. He uses his looks to his advantage by learning much about the goings on than one person should know. Few in Hadreth’s Glen suspect him as being behind a few grizzly events but Jadrund’s cunning has kept him one step ahead and often able to turn the accusations back upon the accuser. Jadrund is obedient to Huntmaster Dalar Melinth of White Chalk Hollow, who is the leader of the local Hunt.
Rhiannon Stoneguard (LG female Chondathan human cleric of Lathander 7/templar of Lathander 2), Morninglady of the House of the First Light: Every year that passes, Rhiannon grows even more beautiful that the year past. Not in the sense of a body to lust after—Rhi has her share of wrinkles and well-earned crows feet at the corners of her eyes—but in the sense of a spirit and mind that wise folk find even greater pleasure in. Her green eyes sparkle with the zest for life and her laugh can make even the darkest heart recall gayer times. Rhi dresses in the bright, long-sleeve, see-through silken robes common among the clergy of Lathander. She prefers the pinks and yellows that contrast, in a complementary way, with her dark red hair. Golden ribbons are bound in the braid that hangs nearly to the floor. Few believe that she can wield a sword to match her sharp wit; fewer still have seen her do it.
Etter (LN male half-wild elf druid of Silvanus 4), Companion of the Nine Druids of Cormanthor
OTHER NOTABLE CITIZENS
Eltos Lightfoot (CG male moon elf ranger of Mielikki 3), member of the Fellowship of the Silver Unicorn
Garro (CG male hornhead saurial wizard 6), master of Garro’s Mystic Treasures: Garro is a very reclusive individual who hides his identity from all but his apprentices. Standing nearly ten feet tall, Garro is an impressive physical figure, but his skill in controlling the Weave is where his true might lies. Covered with dull green scales that are so dark that they appear black in all but the brightest light, he finds little need for clothing. Only on special occasions, such as receiving important visitors or performing a vital ritual, will he don his ornate wizardly robes.
Gaylon III (CE male Chondathan human werewolf expert 5), owner of Gaylon’s Trinkets
Gorf (NG male Damaran human commoner 2), owner of Gorf’s
Hormdeller (CN male Vaasan human expert 4), owner of Jost Inn
Fildfast “Fill” Tiltingstool (CN male lightfoot halfling psion (nomad) 4/rogue 3), owner of The Wishing Well: The gossipy and puckish Fildfast Tiltingstool—a halfling with spiked, blond hair and always dressed flamboyantly—loves to be the talk of the town. The halfling finds much joy in life and doesn’t shy away from exotic pleasures. Phill honestly believes that everyone likes him and lasting friendship is only a pleasant greeting away. He has had some relationships gone sour, but it doesn’t dampen his spirit.
Tanfael Winterwood (NE male half-elf rogue 6), owner of Adventurer’s Way
Other Citizens: Barbarian 2, barbarian 1, bard 3, bard 2 (2), bard 1 (2), cleric 2, cleric 1 (3), commoner 8, commoner 4 (2), commoner 2 (3), commoner 1 (716), druid 4, druid 2, druid 1, expert 7, expert 4 (2), expert 2 (3), expert 1 (8), fighter 1, psion 1, ranger 6, rogue 5, rogue 3 (2), rogue 2 (3), rogue 1 (8), sorcerer 1, warrior 1 (5), wilder 1
EXPLORING HADRETH’S GLEN
1. HADRETH’S MARKET Three hundred years ago, Fort Orcskull stood on this same ground. After the fort was burned to the ground by the Shattered Stone Orcs, the remaining Daggerfolk rededicated the ruined fort in honor of their hero, Hadreth the Feytouched. Now the clearing serves as their market. The weakening economy, caused by the dangerous roads, has hurt the vendors of Hadreth’s Market more so than the other businesses in town. Every week, the market hosts a shrinking number of vendors trying to sell their wares and foodstuff to an increasingly impoverished town. At the center of Hadreth’s Market stands a mighty, crooked oak tree. When all other trees were cleared away to provide lumber and make space for Fort Orcskull, this grand tree was saved from the loggers axe. Few know that the hollow at the base of the tree once led to an underground fey grotto. After the death of Hadreth, fey friends and companions of his druid circle made the tree into a shrine, to his commemorate his sacrifice and to help protect vault of Daoin Areal. The folk of Hadreth’s Glen know that the tree is sacred; staying green even during the bitterest winters. Circling the tree is a pea gravel path with four granite stones—stabbing skyward like giant flint knives—just outside of the path. Adventure Hook: The crossroad to the Daoin Areal Grotto remains intact after all these centuries. Should an individual convince the crossroads guardian to allow passage along the backroad to reach the underground grotto where Daoin Areal is kept, they will discover a small, beautiful cavern with blue-glowing moss covering the glistening walls. What they won’t find is a dragon sized ebon stone that emits a red light. A little over a decade ago, Gabranael (CE nymph 12 HD), learned the secret of and ordered Daoin Areal stolen from the grotto so that it may be used in the war against all who defile the Border Forest. Gabranael held the grotto, which became the vault for Daoin Areal, as sacred and protected it from those who would defile it. Torn from her home by the elves, she has spent the decades building up a following of fey who would like to see the blood of every last elf, human, orc, any non-fey for that matter, used to bring back the vibrant life that the Border Forest had. Recently, Gabranael has allied herself with the Eldreth Veluuthra who has been very useful in raiding and murdering the humans to the south and east. With the constant skirmishes with the Shattered Stone Orcs, beast-men, and hobgoblins within the forest, Gabranael has been unable to maintain her attacks on House Morn and the Zhentarim. She believes that the secret of Daoin Areal, will give her the weapon that will tip the scales in her favor, making her queen of the Border Forest and all non-fey, slaves to her will.
2. DORGOFF’S ALE HOUSE The Dorgoff family has lived in Hadreth’s Glen for four generations. The Ale House, a large two story cabin, is a shrine to the family’s loyalty to Hadreth’s Glen and to Daggerdale. Every inch of wall is covered with pictures—past faces and places—and shelves bearing relics from the village’s past. Artem knows the story of every item and picture and can tell you how his ancestors played a pivotal role. As many of the stories are pure fancy as those that are fact, but they are all superb tales that Artem improves on every time he tells them. The Ale House does not brew any of its own ales, but imports the brews from other communities. Patrons can wet their mouth with pints of Billy Stoat Beer (5 thumbs [cp]), Dernesh’s Beer (6 thumbs [cp]), Nettle Beer (9 thumbs [cp]), or Fruit Schnapps (6 falcons [sp]). Artem has managed to keep his prices low, which has kept the Ale House afloat in these dire times. Adventure Hook: House Dorgoff has always been a loyal supporter of House Morn, even before the highly contested period prior to the founding of Merrydale. Every son and nearly every daughter of the Dorgoff family has served in the military, or within recent history, the rebel forces which later became the Freedom Riders. Artem has lost his eldest son, Mortarar, in a skirmish with ettercaps while on patrol near Irythkeep and his youngest child, Rythheld, fell in battle with Zhents two months ago seven miles east of Dagger Falls. Artem’s surviving child is his daughter, Ahmaeliah, who has gone missing—along with the rest of her patrol—when responding to reports of increased goblin activity near the hamlet of Black Switch. House Morn has requested that Ahmaeliah be found and returned to her father so that House Dorgoff does not die with Artem.
3. JOST INN Before Colderan’s betrayal against the Brightblade Clan, the Greatanvil Clan maintained a permanent dwelling within Hadreth’s Glen to help support their trade with Dagger Falls and beyond. Now this stout, low ceiling structure serves as the village’s eating hall. The basement of this building is often packed with ice cut from the Tesh River during the winter and is used to store meats and vegetables year round. Ran by the crooked-eyed and exceedingly talented Hormdeller, travelers are often surprised by the high quality of the food served here. Hormdeller, a former Freedom Rider, acquired the Jost Inn when Japheth left following the murder of his wife and daughter.
4. GAYLON’S TRINKETS Gaylon III—a pudgy, uncomely bachelor in his early 30s—runs the village’s only permanent store; a rather dusty, crowded building containing all manner of hardward. Gaylon’s grandfather was a master tinker capable of making the finest wares, who only taught his son how to repair items. Gaylon was more interested in the dusty books about the history and politics of distant Cormyr than learning about replacing shovel handles and sharpening axes. Rather socially inept, Gaylon stammers and stutters when speaking to the opposite sex but will bore another male to death with his vast knowledge of the Purple Dragons. When not moving store inventory around in no logical manner or reading The Obarskyr Family Histories for the thirty-fourth time, Gaylon is carefully tending his herb garden behind the store. Adventure Hook: Gaylon had always secretly lusted after the beautiful and much younger daughter of Japheth, Gwen. When Gaylon built up the courage to finally speak to Gwen, she laughed at him and mocked his most obvious faults—his stutter, weight, plain features, dirty cloths—she left him with naught a shred of dignity. Gwen shared what she had said to Gaylon with Jadrund, whom Gwen greatly desired, believing rightly that he would find much hilarity in it. Not long after, Jadrund set up a midnight tryst with Gwen which lured her and Gwen’s mother, Lhys (who suspected her daughter in unladylike conduct), to some nearby sandstone caverns. Unbeknown to Gwen, Jadrund had invited Gaylon who was waiting within the caverns to exact his deadly revenge. Gaylon killed Lhys, and tortured Gwen for many hours before releasing her only to swiftly hunt her down and strangle her with his bare hands. Jadrund then appeared, very pleased with Gaylon and transformed into a werewolf before the terrified eyes of Gaylon. Jadrund rewarded Gaylon by leaving him within an inch of his life and infecting him with lycanthrope. Jadrund and his small but growing Hunt, feasted upon the bodies of Japheth’s family. Pieces of Gwen and Lhys were found scattered in the woods and their deaths were passed off as an animal attack. A few folk whisper that it wasn’t mere animals that killed poor old Japheth’s family; it was the fey who can take the form of giant, blood-thirsty wolves, bears, and stranger beasts. Others believe that beasts—who can take the shape of men—walk among the folk of Hadreth’s Glen, picking their next meal with everyone none the wiser. Whatever the cause, the folk of Hadreth’s Glen would like to see someone or something pay a blood debt for lives of Gwen and Lhys.
5. THE HIGH HOUSE The two-storied, red-brick High House rises above the western edge of Hadreth’s Market and is the grandest building in the Glen. Moss and vines cling to its walls, making it appear as if was grown, rather than built. The master of the High House is Hartel Martist, a leader of the community and a cell leader of a secret cult. Hartel is a handsom man with sharp features and always a kind word and helping hand to give. Hartel is certainly one of the most beloved members of the community; no one would suspect that he has ordered the death of hundreds of individuals and killed a few with his own hands. There is nothing that he wouldn’t do to see ancient Netheril forgotten. The Martist family has long lived in Hadreth’s Glen and has always claimed their wealth comes from investments abroad. In all actuality, the wealth of the Martists has come from the treasuries of assassinated wizards and plundered Netherese tombs. In contact with the master of the Shattered Peak, Martist often entertains fellow cultist who need his guidance. The Cult of the Shattered Peak has an interest in seeing the long lost artifacts and secrets of Netheril remain undiscovered.
6. GORF’S Gorf used to run the best inn in town. He sold the inn to the Freedom Riders and agreed to stay on to maintain the building and manage the support staff for the soldiers who live here. It was the only way he could see keeping employed in the village with the way things were headed. Behind the inn is a large barn where the Freedom Riders stable their horses and citizen’s of Hadreth’s Glen shelter their livestock during storms and freezing temperatures.
7. ADVENTURER’S WAY The Adventurer’s Way is an inn owned by the retired adventurer, Tanfael Winterwood. After a profitable carrer as an adventuerer in the Moonsea region, Tanfael returned to his hometown of Anathar’s Dell. He couldn’t readjust to living amoung his kin again and soon set off to start a new life elsewhere. He eventually came to Hadreth’s Glen and purchased the Adventurer’s Way from its previous owner. Tanfael has found that running a business is a lot more difficult that he thought it would be. Trying to compete with Dorgoff’s Ale House, the Jost Inn, and the Wishing Well has caused his common room to remain empty on most nights. The occasional wandering trader or player will stay but will be gone before the next night falls. Tanfael is quick to pitch the sale of the Adventurer’s Way whenever an adventurer with sack full of gold staggers in to the tavern.
8. THE WISHING WELL Music and laughter always can be heard outside of the Wishing Well. Above the door hangs a sign depicting a voluptuous, nude woman sitting on the edge of a stone well. Each board on the front of the building is painted a different color. While the inside is not painted like a chaotic rainbow, the scene is not any less riotous. Scantly clad women and men serve drinks or dance erotically to the beat of the music. The owner is often seen juggling or performing tricks for random patrons. The Wishing Well, ran by Fildfast Tiltingstool, provides all kinds of entertainment to go with the drink he serves. A patron can always hear the clatter of dice as customers bet away their coins. Phill also keeps a steaming bath prepared, with two of his ladies on hand to scrub a client who wants to indulge themselves. There are always a couple of Phill’s ladies and gentlemen around for private entertainment upstairs. And Phill has been known to procure some devilweed, redflower leaves, or mushroom powder from time to time. Phill cares deeply for every one of his patrons, regulars or first-timers, and keeps all substances that could potentially be abused under tight control.
9. GARRO’S MYSTIC TREASURES Garro’s Mystic Treasures is more a museum than a store. Garro’s first apprentice poses as the owner of Mystic Treasures and opens the doors to the public a handful of times each year, never really expecting to sell anything. Citizens of Hadreth’s Glen crowd into the small store to peer at the oddities that “Garro” has on display. The store itself is an addition that was attached to the northern base of this wide, two-story tower. The real Garro has never been seen outside of his tower since it was constructed. Constructed by dwarves contracted out of Greatanvil Hall, this wide tower is tall for its two stories. Rising 40 feet into the air, tall narrow slits appear more like arrow loops than windows. Should Hadreth’s Glen be attacked by a large force, Mystic Treasures would indeed make a fine defensive structure. Candle lit windows glow most nights and every once and a while, a strange glow can be seen from the roof of the tower. Most folk don’t pay it much attention and don’t mind a wizard who doesn’t walk around town.
10. TEMPLE OF LATHANDER The site that the Temple of Lathander sits upon was simply the campsite of the Dawnbringers who first came to attend to the needs of the builders of Fort Orcskull four hundred years ago. The site has been dedicated to the Morning Lord ever since. The Temple has a long history of turning out people who would later become very influential in their chosen profession. Many of the petitioners who graduated from the temple have become politicians, philosophers, military commanders, and theologians. The Temple of Lathander is actually a combination of two buildings. The northern building, run by Grand Dawnknight Cyril Gavrielov, is known as the Hall of the Aster. The southern building, run by Cyril’s wife Morninglady Rhiannon Stoneguard, is known as the House of the First Light. Following the destruction of Fort Orcskull in the Year of the Hunted Whale (1013 DR), Reginald—a Dawnknight of the Order of the Aster and the only surviving member of the clergy of Lathander—took in all the orphans and began construction of the Hall of the Aster. The Hall was completed in the Year of the Roaring Tempest (1016 DR) and began operating as a school for only those original orphans. The Hall was destroyed in an accidental fire and the new Hall of the Aster was built of ash colored granite and began accepting petitioners in the Year of the Final Test (1036 DR). Funding was donated by House Morn, to the Hall, in order to build a seminary next to the Hall. The House of the First Light was completed the Year of Auril’s Absence (1049 DR). The Hall of the Aster and the House of the First Light have trained noble and orphaned youth of Daggerdale in theology, philosophy, history, science, art, mathematics, languages, military strategy, and riding. |

Was there a map link? I can't find it.
In order to post a map, I'd have to published it on a website (which I don't have) and provide the link to that website. If you would like to have a copy of a PDF of the Hadreth's Glen post with the map, send me a private message. Cheers.
I uploaded the map with Cyril's permission: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23109322@N00/2750899534/ |

*to say it in a very nice way, not using any bad words...
I guess the only and most important thing neccessary to reach this tipping point is to change your mind: Stop concentrating on the negative things (i.e. the 4e crap) and start seeing the positive things.
We have the people, we have the creativity. We can have the Realms go OUR WAY!
@ cyril: I'll pm you for the word file and the map. Thanks in advance!
I'm very happy that I brighted your mood. I took on this little Hadreth's Glen project because I feel the exact same way you do about the talent on these forums to "flesh out what's been left behind". In fact, I now consider Candlekeep my only source for canon Realmslore. |

In order to post a map, I'd have to published it on a website (which I don't have) and provide the link to that website. If you would like to have a copy of a PDF of the Hadreth's Glen post with the map, send me a private message. Cheers. |

Posted - 09 Aug 2008 : 18:54:53 This is my first visiting of candlekeep since a few months for a couple of reasons (I'm busy writing 2nd diploma thesis, not interested in the 4FR at all, much work with my spelljammer-stuff to do, etc...). I browsed over some scrolls and sadly found out that wotc keeps killing the realms, but then I stumbled over this scroll here, and my mood brightened again - even if I haven't completely read the whole thing yet.
Seems like there are still enough FR fans out there who keep on churning out quality material! My honest oponion: Instead of crying over how badly* WotC mangles the 4$ (shattered) realms, we should accept that this is not our way and start to work with the good stuff they left behind. So many creative scribes here with great writing talent AND a solid understanding of how The Realms feel - it can't be that hard to reach a critical mass or tipping point and continue the FR timeline, explore the white spots of the recent years (before 4e) and develop & flesh out what's been left behind (the many dangling loose ends like the Harper Schism or the Manshoon Wars).

Very well done! I'm especially intrigued by the character of Garro. Just one question, though: is Gaylon really supposed to be Chaotic Good? His actions would seem to suggest otherwise
Thank you for catching that. I'll fix Gaylon's alignment. Garro is one character that has changed dramatically from my original detail on him. He started off as a wizard with a personality much like Doc Terminus from Pete's Dragon but I decided I wanted to save that character for another time. |

Is this village purely your own or a fleshing out of a "canon" location?
And what date is the information presented, please? 1382 DR?
Hadreth's Glen appeared on the Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas. With those same keyed locations that I have in the above detail. My map is "updated" to reflect some minor changes to reflect my campaign. As far as the date of the information, I haven't quite decided yet. My campaign is rather slow moving (play about once a month for a few hours), so we are still in 1372. |

Wow, fantastic job on the NPC descriptions. You do them justice and bring them to life very well. I need to take a page out of your book. After reading this my NPCs seem a bit flat! Well done sir!
If I don't sit down and think about a NPC, it's just another red shirt character in the game. I try to at least come up with something unique about that character that may or may not see the light of day. It helps me play that character during a session. |

great work, wish there were more posts like this
I was going to move on to another blank town after I'm happy with Hadreth's Glen. I've hit a spell where I've just keep reading it over and I'm not making much progress. Thought I would toss it up on the forum to see if someone else saw a potential direction to go in. As my campaign gets farther along, I'll have to expand on what you see here. |
