Posted - 03 Jul 2003 : 10:28:36 I am just curious as to whether anyone here has ever made use of Elminster's Hideout, described in the Realmspace accessory for the Spelljammer campaign setting.
If so, how did you use it, and why. Also, if you could provide some details on the useage of the Hideout in your campaigns, I would like to hear them.
For those who do not know what I am talking about, Eliminster's Hideout is a hidden location close to the center of the planet Coliar. It is a metallic sphere that revolves around the central mass of the planet and appears to be solid and impenetrable. It was originally crafted by Elminster so that he could 'police' the actions of the retiring dragon, Firebrand Flametongue. Once this was realised to be actually true, Eliminster converted the pocket realm into a dimensional intersection, for use as a safehold.

More importantly, what happened to the Honeycomb Hideout?
Sadly, most of you are not old enough to get that (and the other half probably never saw those commercials outside of the US).
I used that once, in a GH game. I was a very weird DM back then (probably still am).
am a very weird DM and always have been, always will be. hell I'm just a very weird guy in general.
Fixed that for ya

Since there wasn't a lot of Realmslore to work with, I fleshed out my own history for Elminster and Firebrand back in 2005, which kind of involved Manshoon as well [or, rather, a clone of Manshoon {interestingly enough, it was also to be the clone who would eventually end up as a Black Robe Wizard on Krynn shortly after these events}], and a dracaeus stone.
The end result of which left the Hideout in the hands of Firebrand!
A clone of Manshoon on Krynn? I'd like to hear about that. |

Any more info on this dragon old friend? What was so interesting about him that El went through all that trouble to keep an eye on him? A retired dragon holed up somewhere far far away sounds like an intriguing detination if you ask me
I believe all of the information we have on this is in Realmspace.
And though parts of Realmspace have since been mentioned in other Realmslore, I have to reiterate my opinion that looking at this supplement from a Realms standpoint is problematic. From a Spelljammer standpoint, it's great, but a lot of the Toril/Selūne stuff doesn't really fit into the Realms that well. |
