I think Laeral Silverhand was the leader of the Nine? Before getting together with Khelben.

If Mirt was part of the Nine, does that mean Durnan was? And therefore, was it they who explored Undermountain?

Apparently so. (At least he was one of the three "known" members who were supposedly turned into "blueflame ghosts". Sorry for any spoilers here. He was in Elminster Must Die as one- sort of....)

Do you mean that Mirt was part of the Nine?

This is one of those parts of the Realms that has been left wonderfully (or, perhaps, unfortunately) vague. A DM is free to fill in the blanks, there.

I would love to hear more about the nine & to see them fully detailed. I would also love to see Ed's maps of the Stronghold of the Nine, as I remember reading somewhere that it is a fully mapped dungeon complex.

The first time they're mentioned in lore, IIRC, was in the Great Grey Box (i.e. FR1E), then in FR5 The Savage Frontier, and I suspect they got a shout-out or some info in Code of the Harpers (though I could be mistaken). No time to dig out those references to check, but that's what itching the back of my FR-brain this morning....

Further sources on the Nine include:-

Volo's Guide to the North [available as a free PDF download at WotC]
Lost Empires of Faerūn
Silver Marches
And the write-up of Aumvor the Undying in Champions of Ruin

Not so much in Code of the Harpers but in Laeral's entry in the Seven Sisters.

So noted. Sorry about the brain cloud there, folks.

Hey all, been poking around a bit, and had an outstanding question that I was hoping to answer: Who were the members of the Nine?

1. Laeral Silverhand
2. The ranger, Thanadar (anyone know his original name?)
3. The bard, Arnthiir Windrivv (ditto on the name)

That leaves 6 that I don't know. Any help out there in the 'Keep?

As I recall, only 3 of the Nine have ever been properly detailed. Laeral, and then there another 2 that were referenced in her entry in the Seven Sisters tome, which are Thanadar and Arnthiir Windrivv.

Indeed, those are the three that have only been detailed.
