had some thought about which areas that could be a blast to have a character in, but that i would proberly never get my group to play in (unless that means i'm DM, but that defeats the porpuse really) ...

Halarua ... very fasinated by Halarua and how its descriped in Shining South and in Magewars books ...

Aquatic ... in my opinion it would be interesting to run (... okay ... swim) around in, lets say, Sea of the stars as an aquatic subrace running a whole campaign bound in lore (well ... as far as) without fiddleing with what major stuff thats happening just above in the air

Any areas or the like that you would find interesing to play ing but would proberly never find a group for?

One place I've always wanted to explore is Chult. I've been trying for a while now to get my DM to run a campaign that takes us there. Also the old empires; Mulhorand, Unther, and Chessenta. Always wanted to check those out, and haven't had the chance.

All my gaming area, The Heart of Faerun. The Dalelands, the sword coast, and the North... with that great big desert in the middle of it. Sure there are areas that we game in that are adjacent to the above, but that's because they're there.. anything with the Zhents, Cormyr, etc. It's hard to be in one area and not deal with the ally or enemy regions eventually. :)

I've used Halarua and Kara Tur in character backstories, but that's about it.

big cities in general are really cool, the intrigue, the haggeling etc etc

but my group wil never ever get there with me as the DM (and I have been the DM in every session excepte the very first), guess it's a personal thing, I just can't handle intrigue (and btw leading an Aasimar paladin there would be VERY troubelsome since he couldn't stop helping every poor begger and catching all the thiefs that run around)

*ah, if only there was someone that would run a campain with me or for me* upps, did I just say that?

Aquatic adventures are fun, but I prefer 2-dimensions: land, and sea. if you adapt the Aventi(amphibious humans) to faerun(which my DM did) then it is very fun.

The only problem with answering this question is it really depends on the DM. Currently i am in one group and i run a group. On saturdays my current DM "Jay" runs a homebrew campaign which he has developed for the last ten-fifteen years. He has run FR once which lasted about 10 sessions before a TPK at which point he switched back to his homebrew world. Jay runs his homebrew world FANTASTIC and i wouldn't trust anyone else to do it the way he does. With that said a friend of mine ran a VtM campaign and he was by far the best GM for that i have ever known...descriptions were so vivid and detailed it was really more like an interactive story rather than a game.

In Highschool a friend "Ray" ran Dragonlance, "Matt" ran Ravenloft and "Jamie" ran Oearth...all were so detailed i loved their settings but only with them running. Noone else has ever been able to duplicate the feeling of the game in each of those worlds. I was always the FR buff and i hope they felt the same about my campaigns as i felt about theirs.

WITH THAT SAID...

I can't imagine any of them running FR the way i see it. From the novels i have read the accessories i have owned and read through...adventures...sourcebooks...web sources...nights staying awake filling notebook after notebook with hooks, ideas, maps, npc's...

I just can't imagine anyone i know running FR with the majestic visions in which i see it. BUT to answer the question best of my ability...The places i must would desire to fantasize about playing a character in would be Unther, Mulhorand, Raurin (Current land of once was Imaskar).

I guess those regions just seem to hold a vividness to them. The grand scheme making the landscape and cities look larger than life. While at first glance the concept seems the settings are more in line with an ancient Roman or Greek setting and not the classic european flash most thought of with FR by the newcomer its an area i have written many ideas about, just never had the chance to send people there.

But that is a story for another day...

Well, southern Cormyr has usually been a problem in my Campaigns; I am not really sure why. Groups/players leave before the adventures really begin. As for the south, I agree, but for me it would be the old 2ed. version; I don't like the changes and additions. All in all I thing I could get players to any area, the problem would more be one of me managing to use the area to its full. Water deep is a great example; I love the city, but I never seem to "get it right" when DM'ing there.

Sometimes I try to arrange a brief side trek to an area that I'm interested in portraying, though its usually something the PCs have to "bite" on. I generally won't do the "oops, a cursed scroll that whisks you away to Shou Lung, have fun," sort of thing.

In my last campaign I managed to get the PCs to Anauroch, the Great Dale, the Plane of Faerie, to Silverymoon, and to Glyth. Most of these adventures took some time, but weren't a major part of the campaign, or rather, the campaign always came back around to the Dalelands again eventually. In general, I like to slip some references and some elements from those regions I might cameo into the rest of the campaign, both as a means of reinforcing that the place might be important, and because I might at least get to meander on a bit about an interesting place if they don't take the bait and go there, but do some research on this artifact or that spellbook.
