Posted - 29 Oct 2007 : 23:24:25 With the D&D flops movies and the upcoming DL movie, I was just wondering what FR stories you thought might make for a good movie. By good, I mean that they might be well made and the general public might buy into it like Eragon or LoTR.

Posted - 02 Dec 2008 : 11:50:23 i think if they did a drizzt movie or an underdark one they would need to show how the elf's were banished to the underdark which changed there form and attitudes to others then they could move onto the wars of the houses and maybe a few fight scenes with monsters customary to the underdark theres so much they could do realy and it wouldnt have to center around drizzt alone but having a drizzt character appearing here and there would improve sales dramatically expesially if they used one of the many fight scenes between drizzt and artemis graphically speaking it would be relitivly easy to do especially those globes of darkness just a sphere collored or made slightly transperent |

Me as well. The Crystal Shard was my first FR book |

Yes, maybe.. With them there is not a lot of magic, so the special effect thing would be not a real probleme with them. Also a lot of action.
I was actually thinking about how Drizzt's books are easily the best selling of any FR books. |

Posted - 24 Nov 2007 : 00:31:30 I think the same way as my sister in on that. And Drizzt is at some point, with Elminster, a copyright of Forgotten Realms, A mascote. They are realy known and they make good publicities for the realms... |

But for that movies, I stay with my idea that taking new faces would be the best. Cost less, a good point, but the better, in my opinion, would be that if we take stars, they already are associate to their previous movie. Taking "nobodies" would create the opportunity to associate the character. Even more realisme... |

Posted - 23 Nov 2007 : 18:06:07 New characters would be excellent as well. Though I would think a movie would prefer the Drizzt gang if they were goning to do a movie |

As others have said, I'd prefer new characters and a new storyline. It'd be much better to create a whole new story built around a two-hour movie then it would be to take a novel, translate it to film, and then start hacking off bits to fit the films time allotment and budget.
Amen to that. Unfortunately, as things stand, the only FR material that might catch a filmmaker's eye would be the Drizzt novels. |

The story of the seven sister could be a good movie what do you think ?
I would like to get a story about Arilyn and Danilo too... Could be fun.
I have always found the Seven Sisters to be repetitive and dull. An Airlyn movie would be fun though. |

Posted - 21 Nov 2007 : 19:05:41 Speaking of FR movies, I have always wanted to see a movie about Mirt the moneylender, played by John Goodman. Or a movie about Storm, played by Yancy Butler (if she is clean and sober).
Sweet water and light laughter!

Posted - 20 Nov 2007 : 20:50:32 A way to do drow in a movie and garner less ire from special interest groups or at least take wind from their sails, is to have them with a purplish hue, depicted to be under 5 feet or just over 5 feet for the tall ones, and ensure that they have distinct elven features (not the soft features of LoTRs, but the angular faces as RAS describes). They will look alienish enough, to avoid most backlash. |

I didn't mean to be impolite -- I was merely asking what role she was asking after. Trotsky in Frida, de Sade in Quills. Peter Sellers is some ill-conceived venture. |

This movie was absolutely spectacular. Grendel actually looked a bit like a D&D troll... and Angelina Jolie's 3D rendition was, well...
And I liked seeing Beowulf (mostly) in the nude. I'm dying to see the movie in 3D. |

This was a feast for the eyes, and I hope this heralds the next generation of animated movies.
To all who have not seen it: please rush to the nearest IMAX 3D theatre who is playing this right now. I think this movie will have an actual historic significance in terms of the overall evolution of the movie industry. |

Right on Wooly and a hail to the imdb! However, I am surprized that you don't have it ready for linkin as you do with the WOtC-page.
Back to topic now, folks....
I love IMDB.com, and it's one of many sites I have plugged into IE7's search options. But it's not something I link to often enough to have an already-prepared link. |

He's Australian. Still an interesting choice! Between his Marquis de Sade and his Leon Trotsky, he's had a history of playing oversexed old men. |
