I've downloaded a number of the fonts provided by Candlekeep and I'm finding that the top portion of any of the capital letters are missing from the font file.

In particular I was looking for corrected versions of the Dalelands font.

Well it took me a while, but I found a free Font Editor and corrected the baseline issue with the fonts. If someone with the fonts that work, would you be willing to test how these fonts look on your computer?

these will REPLACE your current Dalelands font, so I suggest you:

1. Download the Dalelands font from this site.
2. Install the site's Dalelands font
3. Open MS Word
4. Type ABCDEF in Arial
5. Type ABCDEF in Daleland
6. Download my modified font
7. Install my modified font
8. See if they still look the same
9. Install the site's font if they worked for you
10. Create a document using the Daleland font
11. Provide a download for it

I created the document below using my font. I believe that if you open it, it will use your Daleland font.

If this testing proves successful, then I'd like to offer my edited verson of the fonts to Candlekeep, so they can offer it to those that may have my problem.

Dunno, I've not messed with fonts in a long time. I used to put all the nifty fonts on my computers, and do other stuff like tweak the sounds and all... Now I just leave it as it is. Other than a couple of specific programs, some drive letter designations, and setting the keyboard to US-International, I don't mess with customizing stuff on my computer.

New printer drivers didn't fix it. So I went and looked for a font editor and I found the problem. The font is poorly built.
The Baseline is way below what it should be. Not sure how it works for you guys.

I'm installing new printer drivers.

Previously I didn't have any drivers pointing to a real printer, just using the Microsoft XPS Document Writer, but that hasn't been true for all my previous machines.

None. This is a brand new laptop. I even tried this on work laptops, always the same result.

I'm cursed. The powers of the universe do not want me to enjoy that awesome font.

Yeah, I'm with Wooly on this. This is very strange. Have you altered any of your system specs for video and/or font format?
Wooly Rupert Posted - 15 Aug 2010 : 05:00:40
I saw it... No idea what would cause it, especially across several machines. Have you done any customizing on the machine? Changed any of the basic settings, languages, display stuff, anything?

I was actually thinking of going the other way -- from 11 to 16, say. I've seen a couple of fonts that didn't look right at smaller sizes.
Wenin Posted - 14 Aug 2010 : 19:17:17
You mean changing it from 11 point to say 8 point? Yeah it doesn't matter. The capital letters are always cut off at the top. If you mean somehting else, I'm not familiar with a way to decrease the font size.

It appears as if the fonts themselves are riding high.

I did, with an older machine. But then I altered the fonts sizes, as Wooly suggested above, and the problem was quickly resolved. I've not had had a problem since.

Have you tried altering the size of the text?

This is very interesting then. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong.

I place the font files into my fonts directory. It gives an installing message.

When I choose the font in Word and type things, the lower case characters look fine, though if I look close I feel that the tips of the d, t, b and such are cut just a tad short. When using capital letters though it becomes obvious.

Well met

Hmm, thou art certainly doing the installation correctly, Wenin. I've just tried again myself in Word and it appears fine. Contact me via email and i'll send the original font files over directly.

Well met, Wenin

I've just checked the download of the Dalelands font in particular, and it appears fine on my machine

I wish to inquire as to what anyone found on this issue. First, am I crazy, or is there really an issue? =) I wish I knew something about font files to try and fix the files, as it appears the data is within the file, just something is wrong with the format of the data.

Sounds very odd, Wenin. I'll look into it...
