Candlekeep may be unavailable for a short period of time at some point over the next few days. This is while the site transfers between servers. The new server will provide increased speed in accessing the site content and forum. Both servers will be running simulatanously to ensure that the site itself is available almost seamlessly whilst the nameservers are updated. However, depending upon thy location, the forum may be inaccessable for a short time (this is the only part of Candlekeep which can NOT run simultaneously).
Apologies for any disruption. If there are any questions or queries on this operation, then please contact me. |

I happen to like using a browser that I don't have to worry about getting virus's through. Thanks. :)
That's why we created firewalls and anti-virus software.
Which doesn't always catch virus's thanks. :)

You know of course, that I am joking . There was some advantage to this. The integration did allow me to correct a few other bugs which had been hampering my network for the past few weeks anyway. So really, I thank you . Your efforts with the new server provided me with a more important reason to go in and fix the errors in the code .

Glad to be of service, Sage
I have indeed corrected the background image problem by using the absolute background path rather than the relative path.
I will tackle the avatars later |

Aye, I have heard from a couple of other scribes (from Australia) who can't access Candlekeep. It appears that the nameservers have not yet been updated over there yet.... I hope. I'd expect they should be sorted out by the end of today.

Nope, no avatars. Background, but no avatars yet. |

If you can't take 'em, you can't run with the big dogs. (I'm a moderator on another (non D&D) forum, where I've taken the self-appointed, but fully sanctioned role as "bad cop" among the moderators. So, if I can't take a friendly jab or two.... *shrug* ) |

Extraordinary. I'm currently testing using FF 0.9 and I get no background (although Lysander, on the same version, does?!)
For some reason, FF isn't take the image paths a relative paths (relative to the forum directory, i.e. back one level and into the images directory), whereas IE picks them up just fine.
This is most odd, FF is making assumptions and thus causing invalid image paths. The only way I can think to resolve this, is to rearrange the images and reset all the paths, and ultimately setting a global image path. However, it may take some time. Apologies for the inconvenience, feel free to switch from FF to IE |

Aye, it appears that some datapaths are incorrectly configured on the new server which IE interpretes but some other browsers struggle with. I'll address this later today. Apologies for any inconvenience.
No apologies necessary.
I figure I'll keep feeding information as it comes to me, on the off chance that some of it may actually be useful
Here at work, I'm running FF 0.9. I have the background - ahh, the nice background - but no avaters just yet. Hopefully, this isn't another TOT, eh? |

No, I didn't figure out the missing avatar problem - I just realized why the site looked .... different.
The background's missing! It's all white here. I thought that was just because of the new servers, but when I did my IE/FF test (above) lo and behold! the background is back.

But Firefox's got tabs
According to FF, Wooly's avatar is at: http://www.candlekeep.com/forum/..%5Cimages%5Csitegfx%5Cavatars%5Cavatar_rupert.jpg
According to IE, it's at: http://www.candlekeep.com/images/sitegfx/avatars/avatar_rupert.jpg
The "%5" is rendered as a \ rather than a /, so that's part of the problem.... now it's just figuring out why it's doing that.
(For comparason, the "Candlekeep Forum" graphic is http://www.candlekeep.com/images/sitegfx/forum.gif, so it renders some right, at least ) |

Hmmmmmm, most odd. kuje, what browser are you using? Is this still occuring? Mayhaps the full nameserver transition had not yet populated where you are.
I'm on Firefox 1, and they all went kaput for me as well. (It was odd, Al, yours was showing, as was mine when I posted. When I came in this morning, yours was showing, Sirius' was showing, but Wooly and mine weren't. When I explicity allowed FF to load images from www.candlekeep.com, now all of 'em aren't showing, and when I "view image" I get:
quote:
= File Not Found =
Halt traveler, there is no door, corridor nor portal here. Ye have arrived at an area unknown.
(I believe that's your error 404 page)
(Then again, Worlds seems to be down, as well.) |
