New guy, here. I see that my post count is stuck at 0, no matter which forum or scroll I post in. No biggie, there, but it appears to be linked to another issue.

When I responded to an old, non-locked scroll, it did not rotate up to the top of the thread list. It remained buried in the forum, and <the thread list view does not show my last post>. However, if I actually click on the scroll, then <my post shows up there>.

Are these glitches with the software, or is there some sort of probationary period for newbs?

Thank ye, kindly.

Well met

Aye, I have no intention of charging for Candlekeep. Realmslore should be shared freely

As for donations, indeed as Kuje states, the link is broken due to some change at Paypal. I need to get this sorted, but still have the paypal account available. If anyone wishes to donate in the meantime, please email me for details.

Any donations are greatly received and go directly into the running costs of Candlekeep.

Alaundo should definitely offer enrollment in some sort of sponsor program as an option. Heck, call it a subscription to the lore of Candlekeep.
I know Alaundo has stated specifically that he does not want Candlekeep to become a subscription site, even if only in name. But a sponsor program might be a good way to go.

*shrug*

I know I wouldn't mind paying $50/month to support Candlekeep, especially if it meant better server access and less chance it will ever die, no matter what RSE the WotC pull on us.

Where does one donate?

And how much money are we talking about here? If we get the fifty most regular posters to donate, how much does each one have to contribute?

I found a self-fix for this problem:

go to the posts you have made, and click on "Edit Post"

Simply do this and nothing else, then click on "Post Changes"

Your post will then both "count" and be placed at the top of the lists.

That's because Sage started breeding them more frequently! I'm only one hamster!

OK. We're all in the same boat. I guess that makes me feel better.

Too much load on the server? Bandwidth?

I was able to at least move the old thread back up to the top of the list, so that it showed in the thread list view and would be more likely to get others' attention, by editing my post with a bump. So typing a post caused a time-out, but going back and making the post even longer did not.

You know, about that hamster, Drizzt could sic Guenhwyvar on the little gremlin bastards and fix us up right quickly. Too bad so many here had to bad-talk ol' RAS and hurt Drizzt's feelings, though . . .

Death to the Candlekeep Gremlins! Just wondering, how big of a cat would we have to get to hunt them all down?

I'm well aware.

So in short, it's not just new members.

Clever, Wooly.

Aye, Al. I seem to find myself being timed out on every post I've made here, so far (3 or 4). The particular one in question here both timed out and double-posted. When I went trying to track it down, I caught the double-post, and also the fact that both posts read 0 post count. (Again, I'm not bothered by that, but it did seem to be symptomatic of something greater.)

At that point, I deleted the duplicate post and ensured that the first, intentional post remained.

But I probably will not be able to draw any replies to my posts, if they don't bring their corresponding threads/scrolls back up to the front page of the thread list.

And it's no fun scribing to myself.

TY for your attention and consideration, gents.

this happens to me on an almost daily pace as well.

Well met, BEAST

Indeed, posts in the Welcome are do not clock up post counts (nor do they in the Candlekeep Inn). This is intentional.

Did you experience a timeout during your post in the second issue you mentioned? This may account for the problem.

We're currently having issues that are causing these problems. The web host draws much vacuum.
