What a tough night last night! We have been seeking a "relic of Mystra" for some time now. We know nothing of the actual item, just that it exisits and is likely in possession of an old white dragon on the Great Glacier. We have finally managed to find her lair, and after annhiliating her minions, the old white and her brood of half-dragons and dragonspawn nearly killed us all.

The rogue simply got slaughtered by the two great-axe wielding half-white dragon barbarians. My archmage, Azazel, got reduced nearly killed by one the same barbarians, which triggered my contingency teleport spell, which left me at -9 hitpoints bleeding to death alone in my room at an inn in Ironspur. Luckily, I made my one and only stabilization check (the first one I have ever made I might add) and survived, but was still unconscious at an Inn in Ironspur whilst my mates were dying atop the Great Glacier. The fighter, Brotter, was reduced to 8 hitpoints then drank a potion of gaseous form and fled with Twig, the halfling druid, who had lost his smilodon animal companion and was also wounded.

So now we've got an extremely pissed off old white dragon after us (I trapped her in a Halaster's Blacksphere during the encounter or we probably would have all died), my two surviving companions are in bad shape on the Great Glacier, and I am barely alive. Hopefully, I will regain consciousness the next morning and I can scry for my companions, teleport to them and teleport back to Ironspur so we can lick our wounds and plot our revenge.

Conclusion
The items that we recovered were powerful relics of the faiths of Mystra and Selune that the genasi had been collecting to offer as sacrifices to Shar to garner her favor. The relic of Mystra was called the "Monocle of Mystra" (I think sirreus it going to post the stats for these items here, so I won't go into that), "The Face of Selune", and a mace that had been built by priests of Selune specifically for battling against Shar's followers. I turned the items over to the temple of Mystra, and we decided to head back to Sigil to hide from Shar, just in case we pissed her off by stealing the relics from her servants. Thus ends the campaign and now our adventure in Chult begins...

Shar's Domain
While we knew we were gating to the Plane of Shadow, we had no idea we were gating into Shar's domain. We found this out when we were attacked by greater shades and my Sunburst spell completely failed. With his knowledge of the planes Azazel knew it would be impeded, but it shouldn't have failed completely unless under Shar's influence. This also meant that my evocation spells would be impeded, which was quite troublesome for a master specialist evoker. We traveled through the plane a short while and saw a massive tower rising toward a circle of pitch black in the sky overhead, the base of the tower was completely surrounded my petitioners hoping to gain Shar's favor. We managed to locate the shade we had encountered in Sigil and began our attack. Hopelessly outnumbered, my companions held off the petitioners and Azazel began to go after the shade. Once Azazel became airborne to chase Harmon, he saw the earth genasi with a drow coming to see what the disturbance was. Azazel immediately flew down in between the two and used a maximized greater fireburst, which left the drow relatively unharmed, but really hurt the genasi. He then began twirling his cloak, slicing me with blades affixed to the tips of the cloaks. As soon as he cut me, he was blasted by my electric vengeance spell, which finished him off. Then Azazel spotted a small altar with some items on it, he recognized immediately that one was the relic he had been after. The fire monolith our druid had summoned was keeping the other petitioners and the drow away, while our fighter grabbed the halfling druid and ran to me. As soon as they got within reach, we all grasped hands and I plane shifted us to the front door of the temple of Mystra in Waterdeep.

Sigil
Upon arriving in Sigil, we immediately hired a tout. She told us we were in The Hive and that this was no place for newcomers to dwell. She took us to the market ward, and went off to see if she could find some information in the genasi.
She came back with information about where to find Thred's associates. It was a house where he conducted meetings, but he did not live there himself. We came to the house to find a kyton acting as door guard. As one would expect he was not a pleasant fellow, but rather than start a fight in the streets, we walked away. Then I noticed someone cloaked in invisibility watching us, it was a shade. As I started to approach him, he began casting a spell using the shadow weave.
Once the fight ended we had killed the chain devil, his all(a djann that had come from within the house during the fight) and had run off the shade, though I was certain I had not killed him. Then we went into the house and came across an annoying talking statue of a merman, that had been the shade's companion for over a century. We then fought a couple of alchemical golems, and I dropped the statue into the remaining acid because he wouldn't shut up about how he was going to lauch when Harmon gets back and kills us. As we are hanging around this house, trying to figure out what to do, a barbed devil and a chain devil arrive and tell us to follow them if we want to meet with Thred and Harmon. They lead us to a portal and away we go.

The Tortured Lands

We teleported to the general area of the dwarven keep and eventually managed to find it, unfortunately it was below a tribe of sand giants and we had to fight them all to get through to the dwarves. Once we made it to the dwarven strongold, we had to wait on the magistrate for a long time, but once we greased his palm with a little gold he was plenty helpful. He told us that the genasi had been there, had purchased a "moon buckler" that they had uncovered during their mining excavations. He was able to tell us that the genasi gave his name as "Thred" and said something about the city of doors. He also told us that he happened to know of a cube in the nearby caverns that the drow had centuries before conduct surface raids, and that it was believed that one could different planes through the cube.
We found the cube, and it was in fact an 15 foot obsidian cube. After examining it, Azazel determined that each side of the cube was a gate. One led to the elemental plane of fire, and to the plane of earth, one would only allow non-living material to pass through, and one was inactive and I could see no way to activate it. Then I looked at the top of the cube, and sure enough there was another gate, this one leading into a city. We took our chances, entered the gate and arrived in Sigil.

We wrapped up this campaign last night, and it was an excellent end to an excellent campaign. Thanks sirreus! To recap, since the last post when Azazel almost got killed by Slyxantharios the White, we rested, licked our wounds, replaced our lost rogue, and were finally able to kill Slyx and her remaining minions. Underestimating how much of her brood we had killed, by the time Slyx was dead, so was everything else in her keep, and the relic was not in her hoard, which was where we were hoping it would be.
We dragon's hoard in tow, I teleported us to Waterdeep so we could spend our hard-earned riches in style. Whle there I visitned the temple of Mystra, told the priests there that we were looking for a "stony man" likely an earth genasi who was in possession of a relic of Mystra. Through divinations, they picked up on a powerful aura that was tied to Mystra and was in fact in possession of an earth genasi. The diviners told us that the genasi was in a dwarven stronghold in the Underdark below the Tortured Lands.

Hey! I came back for them, and I changed my contingency spell once I realized that they can't get along without me.
sirreus Posted - 11 Sep 2007 : 19:27:53
well, i would have to agree with the above post. always flee before thinking of others...tsk tsk

Ha! 'Tis always the same lame old wizard's trick - contingency and teleport! Leave your friends in peril as long as you save your neck, aye?

Would have served a sneaky wizrad right to die, 'tis my opinion!

Well Xysma,

seems that you are a lucky man – at least congratulations to the near escape!

Some “help” for plotting your revenge:

Conjure a volcano and let the white dragon suffer on sulphur
Change his breath-weapon into butterflies and let him choke on this
Power up an “Irresistible dance” and let the Whitie prance until his feet are bleeding
Polymorph him into an “ice-mouse” and feet him to some winterwolfs

So - if you need more “good” advice – just let me know .

Good luck for the next meeting – and just let us know, what solution your team found.
