In a friends campaign I use a spellfire wielding rogue. I had a question, out of combat does a spellfire wielder atomatically absorb magic such as a healing spell? My DM and I have been doing it so I absorb healing spells out of combat. I was just wondering because I took Con. damage and it's a pain to naturally recover it, I just wanted to know if I can control absorption. |

If you were close to exploding, with the PrC, why wouldn't you use some excess levels to heal? At 2nd level, the Channeler gets a 1d4+1 per spellfire energy level spent.
No Healing spell wasted on an ingrate who would go and explode on the poor cleric, and you don't die... |

Well, the PrC allows you to absorb more levels of Spellfire but you still damage those who would touch you (as in a heal spell in the instance you described). Either way it would still be detrimental to heal you when you were under-CON'd, although it may be preferable to deal a few points of damage to the Healer rather than lots of damage to another... just hope the Healer makes the check to get the spell off.

The first makes me wonder if online code being the problem. If so the answer is if the code says you do, you do.
A little more reseach indicates that the PrC might have been wrote too free. I would house rule that a channeler can as a free action absorb rather then all targeted magic is absorbed automatically.

That situation was out of combat I had taken some Con damage and there was a master healer on board. She healed me, I forgot my limitations, and almost blew up a party member. I'm also taking the Spellfire channeler prestige class if that explains more. |

Hmm as the rules are written nope.
However it certainly is posible that the healing spell was readied for to attack with. The rule design does not always follow the novels or other FR lore. |

I can not find any indication that a spellfire wielder atomatically absorbs magic of any kind. That it needs to be something planned for. |
