Posted - 09 May 2004 : 08:30:21 This scroll is for the express purpose of posting details from my upcoming PbEM campaign. It's mainly a source of information for the 'lurkers' and any gamers who are not participating but have an interest. It will be eventually succeeded by a website, but until the Lady K. gets back on her feet, this will be the one primary source.
It will include, at least at first:
- campaign logs
- supplemental information
- campaign elements that other DMs may find useful in their own campaigns
- exploration of concepts for the second and succeeding chapters of the adventure
Obviously, those involved with the campaign are risking their potential enjoyment of the adventure by looking in here, so I'll take this opportunity to point out that this scroll will contain SPOILERS! for the Walking Through Mirrors adventure.

Posted - 09 May 2004 : 08:52:30 Distilled pain from the Book of Vile Darkness, is supposedly not only usable as a magical substance, but also a highly addictive drug. Fiends who use (abuse?) it do seem to get something considerably different from it than mortals, though, since mortals only experience a sense of euphoria when the drink the 'pain' (it seems strange that the pain of others could give pleasure to others, but isn't that the way of Baator?). I've always thought that other emotions could be extracted and distilled as well. If pain, then why not hate? Anger? Sorrow? Even if pain is the most pleasurable to fiends, they might want a variety of emotions to choose from, so they don't grow bored with the act.

Posted - 09 May 2004 : 08:49:30 Trade of souls not just in lemures and larvae, but in contracts. Likely very minor contracts, like some mortals who get picked up by abishai. And maybe for more important contracts, selling rights to use the bound mortal for a while, though this arrangement (at least from fiend to mortal, not sure from fiend to fiend) would call for its own contracts to be written to make sure the terms of the deal are observed... Like the "Don't Get My Property Killed Or I'll Flay You Slowly For The Next Million Years" clause. Which all feeds into itself, as people get snared by these contracts and dragged into service eventually...

Posted - 09 May 2004 : 08:46:33 I think I mentioned in another thread a while back that the sale of useful symbionts and/or parasites might be flourishing in Baator. It's a nice way to introduce those weird creatures from the Fiend Folio. Other ideas for sale items in the market places of Hell...
- Servant imps (as familiars, perhaps) - Blood War "loot" that the fiends can't use themselves (chaotic stuff, for example...might be more on the black market, though) - Information - Bottled celestials. Or stuffed...any way you prefer - Contracts of all kinds. - drugs - emotions, bottled (like distilled fear, isolated hate, that sort of thing) - long-distance phone service (couldn't resist) And of course, they would also be *buying* everything and everyone that is useful to them for some very good prices.

Posted - 09 May 2004 : 08:38:25 Now, discussion about the rules should still be confined to Wood Elf's PbEM with Sage... scroll. All campaign specific elements will be discussed here.
I'm looking for comments and suggestions from non-players and lurkers about the details that I post, and anything you as a gamer would like to see. The door is open on what can be discussed here, but campaign rules concerning the basics of the PbEM should remain in the scroll that I mentioned above.
