A battle near its end...
Five infidels lying unconcious on the battleground, 2 still standing...
A wounded party(6 adventurers all at 1st lvl.)...
A deaf elven ranger...
All the consequences lead to the death of an honorable man.(but unlucky

The wizard of the party charms one of the enemies(a cleric of some power(maybe 4th lvl or above??)) while the remaining of the group kills the other enemy. At the same time the ranger climbs to the mountain to jump upon the cleric from 5 meters(???). But the ranger isn't aware of something different about the cleric, enemy stands with a confused look, off-guard, off balance. And our ranger wants to take this advantage.
He leaps from the rocks upon the helpless cleric with his sword in his hand. At that moment the charm ends, and our charming paladin comes into view.(protection, loyalty, goodness, friendship, bla bla bla...) The clerics retaliates and draws his dagger, he puts up a good fight with 3 combatants from the adventuring party(including the flying, ambushing, leaping ranger, the cleric bounced off while bashing with his shield and the paladin, of course.) And the result of this 6vs1:

The cleric is killed.
But the paladin gets a critical hit and gets completely smashed down with a mace crushing his skull(-30 Hp).(no need to mention the 3,4,5 rolled by the paladin on d20)
Fighting ends.
Everyone is in deep sorrow, but there is something wrong.
Someone is looking for his lost arrows and plays with his wolf cub(this is another matter :)).
Guess who?
The Leaping Ranger.

Nature is niether a friend or a foe, and nature is both at the same time.

How can you be confident in a man who thinks your life's end is a dropping of a leaf?
How can you call him "friend"?
How can he hope to be trusted?

But you are right, if he behaves like nature,
he shall be treated like nature, fought when becomes a foe,
praised when becomes a friend.
Its dangerous to carry a lightning bolt with you, hoping it to strike a foe instead of you.
That's the only wrong thing that ranger does.

But death is also part of the wild, and nature rarely takes time to mourn the passing of anyone, even a paladin.
