Hello all,

I just started a new campaign with a group of players I had met only once previously. I'm calling the campaign the Moon Shadow Wars, because the major theme revolves around the battle between Shar and Selune, as well as her conflicts with Lathander in his roll as another of the gods of light. I'm also going to incorporate the storyline of the rise of Aumanator.

This game is being run in the Pathfinder system, and I'm moving away from canon in a variety of ways. I'm not a huge fan of what they did to the FR settings, in regard to the death of Mystra, the Spellplague, and the death of so many of the gods. I see it as dumbing down the setting to make way for an inferior game system, i.e. 4E.

I'm using three modules, The Sons of Gruumsh, Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave, and Shadowdale: The Scouring of the Land, and writing my own final adventure as the others develop. The characters are starting out at second level, so I'm reworking the first module to adjust the power level, since it's written for 4th level characters.

The party has just gotten together and hasn't figured out a name yet. The members are as follows:

Arc -- A half orc inquisitor of Mystra orphaned and raised by foster parents, the high priest of the Houe of Mystra in Harrowdale Town and his wizard wife. His parents were murdered by mysterious assailants and he dedicated his life to tracking down those who would misuse Mystra's gifts.

Darius Iskandar -- A human cleric of Lathander, a dedicated scribe and scholar of the House of the Morning in Eveningstar, has dedicated his life to the pursuit of the fabled blade Lighthope. Lighthope was a longsword said to be Lathander's original chosen weapon. Lathander is thought to have laid it aside after the Dawn Cataclysm. Darius wishes to find the blade in order to ascend to the ranks of angels that serve Lathander.

Lenias Vandershard -- A moon elf draconic sorcerer, raised by his family in Evereska to honor his silver dragon heritage, Lenias spent his early years as a junior instructor at the Elven Academy of Arcane Knowledge. Since he was young, he has been visited by dreams of a draconic figure, urging him to greatness, telling him to fulfill his destiny. Driven by the dreams and his thirst for knowledge, Lenias strives to find a way to fully embrace his bloodline, and become a mighty dragon.

Darius (pronounced dar-i-oosh) -- A human monk, Darius is an outcast Bedine running for his life. Sold into slavery at an early age by unscrupulous parents who defied tribal tradition, Darius was raised by a group of dark monks, who branded him with a dark crescent moon on his left shoulder. Told nothing of the traditions or edicts of the order, Darius was trained to be an emotionless killer. After witnessing uncounted atrocities, Darius began to have doubts and misgivings about his captors and compatriots. Knowing that his comrades would kill him if he voiced his troubled thoughts, Darius fled the group, and has been hunted ever since.

Cluggan Bronzeforge -- A shield dwarf fighter, Cluggan Bronzeforge is the third son of Mogan Bronzeforge, an influential dwarf clan lord of Citadel Adbar in the Silver Marches. While Cluggan's two elder brothers learned the trade of their father, becoming crafty merchants, Cluggan's joined the army of his clan. Cluggan's father Mogan fell ill and passed away, leaving the clan in the hands of Cluggan's two older brothers, while bestowing the traditional shield of the Defender of the Citadel to Cluggan. Returning from the army to pay respect to his father, Cluggan became suspicious of the rule of his brothers. Instead of the camaraderie and shared sacrifice displayed by the dwarves defending the clan, his brothers seemed more concerned with increasing their own personal wealth. The last straw came when Cluggan found them squabbling over business opportunities on the eve of an orc attack on the citadel. After a disastrous fight, his brothers had him exiled from Citadel Adbar, never to return.

I'll be posting more information regarding the campaign and character development here, to get feedback from other experienced DMs. Thanks for the sounding board.
