"So, you must have come far?" the near-giant came to say after a belch and another chew on his pipe. I had begun to take trust in the man, who was obviously showing great respect for me in the inn, along with the other six silent people who were enjoying the merriments in the inn. "It's story that can only be told where there is good light and no fair breeze, for if the shadowmaster was to hear of this speech, I could only imagine what he'd do to me." The gruff being frowned, licking the upper part of his beard of foaming brew, and blowing the rest of the foam off his face in magical pink bubbles. It intrigued me, nevertheless. "Well, old rogue, you can tell me, as the night is young and shall be until the sun arises over the arm of the inn. That is when I go to sleep, for I rarely sleep for more than two, three hours at a time." He frowned, obviously worried about the wounds that he had dressed for me, and the worry that had been caused in my life prior to being pure of all evil. So, after a sip of brew and a puff of an elf's pipe, I began to tell the tale of my short, weary life in a corner of the room. It, eventually, cam back to me, piece by piece, chunk by chunk, the wording as the voice had stated it, and the emphasis on all the evil words just as the shadowmaster had stated. Once I had pulled out of the hallucinogenic trance of restating the words of a coward, I noticed that the room was empty, quiet. It looked peaceful, yet it had a cosy feel to it. "Where are the men that had been relaxing in front of us?" I questioned the inn keeper, wary of the world after the attack that took place on me. "You needed not to ask me that, young fellow. For they are the people of Uia, a dream world that visits Faerun in the evening, to watch over us and keep note of who is disrupting the lords of the Red Citadel. It's sad really, for when the Citadel came to power, we were all homely creatures that looked after each other. Now we are a people run by a people of dreams. Our ancestors were killed once that was placed upon us, and how we shall forget that time, I shall never find out." He winced, grimaced, and poured another drop of mead from the flagon into my glass. "A toast. To the well being of my companion here, who has suffered the loss of his own very conscience." I went to bed.
