I post hardly ever, but I lurk a lot! ^__^
I need help for a new PC to insert in my FR campaign. She want to be a druid female from a hard-shell matriarchal society located in a island.
There's any official similar situation to use for her? If not, any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Posted - 10 May 2007 : 17:10:58 I love the Forgotten Realms. It's discovering the existence of places like Ixinos after 20 years of playing in Faerun that fill my days with tiny bits of joy. Thanks guys.

I have to look up the book, but there was a nice discription about using the ways in one of the latest Erevis Cale storys.

The book is Dawn of Night and from page 158 the guide Magadon explains the ways - just read on
Thanks guesting gm - the other option for the rules is the one you mentioned |

Maybe the Druid took a wrong term in the fey ways.... I have to look up the book, but there was a nice discription about using the ways in one of the latest Erevis Cale storys. If I remember correctly a person may stumble in one of the ways without knowing them. If your PC doesn't need a more personal reason, you wouldn't have to work on a lenghty explanation |

Although I don't know if any of them link to the portal on the island. |

Posted - 05 May 2007 : 11:31:01 If the character in question is a druid it could be something as simple as her having traveled north to learn some of the lore from the woods of these lands, maybe the lore of Turlang or something concerning an ancient flower mentioned in an old elven text. Or she could be on some business connecting her with the Emerald Enclave(knowingly or unknowingly). |

Maybe that is where the portal is that connects to the island? |

It has a lot about culture and religion of amazons. Not everything is canon-lore, but it's a really great piece of lore.
Hi Dalmar Amad,

Posted - 30 Apr 2007 : 01:14:12 Reason why,
could be called to heal nature in Daggerford
could be having wanderlust and just happened to travel that far
could be slightly upset with home and decided to put some distance between the two.
There can be many reasons to travel, some require less back story then others do. |

Posted - 29 Apr 2007 : 14:42:23 My gut reflex is to say that since in 2e it was determined that everything in D&D had to have a home in the FR, and that there was an amazon kit in 2e, someone figured that there needed to be an amazon island in FR to utilize the amazon kit. But its just a guess. |

Posted - 29 Apr 2007 : 07:49:52 I checked a little closer. The amazon island does have a write-up in the Vilhon Reach book and is named Ixinos. There is little information and most of this is found on page 32. I think there is also a little information concerning a mercenary company hailing from the island in the Gold and Glory supplement. Just curious, does anyone know how this snook into the realms as it seems a little out of place. Is the first mention in the Ancient empires (which I don't own) or in the Gold and Glory book?
Anyway, here you have an island of amazons and near the heart of the Emerald Enclave. That should fit the character nicely. |

Posted - 29 Apr 2007 : 04:00:00 You could make your own generic matriarchal (maybe tribal) society on one of the islands of the Korinn Archipelago (just north of the Moonshaes).

Posted - 28 Apr 2007 : 22:06:59 Rashemen would be almost perfect except for that Island requirement. |

Posted - 28 Apr 2007 : 14:55:07 The Drow are Matriarchal but thy arent generally on on islands
Rashmans pretty martriarchal but its not on an island either
The major islands in Faerun are
Evermeet (ruled by a female by not really matriarchal)
Lantan
Pirate isles x2 (one in the Sea of Swords and one in the sea of stars)
Moonshae isles (Like Evermeet ruled by a queen but not really a matriachy)
Nimbal (This ones probably your best bet as it used to be ruled by the clergy of Leira the former goddess of Illusion who was probably female however Leiras not really a nature deity |

Posted - 28 Apr 2007 : 14:50:28 If I remember correctly there is (or at least was in the 2ed.) an island of amazons outside of the Vilhon Reach in the area called the Eyes of Silvanus. The Vilhon Reach book is a free download from Wizards page.
Outside of this the nearest thing would be Rashemen which does have a segregated society when it comes to some areas, but can not be really called a matriarchal society. |
