Sages,
Many of you are more familiar with other non-WotC sourcebooks than I am. My query is this; are there other African-esque D20 books available? I have found Nyambe on Amazon, but wondered if there are any other better books out there before I purchase it. Is Nyambe worth purchasing in your opinions? I remember a discussion some time ago that mentioned an "Africa" sourcebook that was written by a FR author? Does this ring any bells? I appreciate any info. Thanks! |

I would agree 100% with Tom, it meshes perfectly. No weird new rules systems that you get with some alternates, just Core with lots of flavor.
You don't have to use the 'Water people' (Egyptian types), but you could always stick the Azzazza way to the north on the border of Maztica and say that is where the 'Water people' originated from. Then just consider that the stone temples are more Aztec-like. |

Nyambe is an excellent product. It's a 3E product, but it shouldn't be too hard to tweak and update. Moreover, it works well with the Realms IMO, with little adaption necessary -- it pretty much fits into the island-continent to the far SW of the Realms, which jives with what we know of where the Chultans came from and a group of African-esque mercenaries said to have come from somewhere around there. The only adaption of note that I would make is to cut out the Egyptian-esque portion of the Nyambe map, which is not as hard as it might sound. |

I know a lot of people have recommended Nyambe, including some Realms designers. I've only looked at the preview material myself, but it looked solid. |
