Netheril was located where the great dessert Anauroch is now located. You can go to the Wizards Download page and under the Old Edition Downloads you can get the Netheril - Empire of Magic box set for free that will tell you all about the location and more.

EDIT: D'oh Sage beat me to it. [:D}
The Sage Posted - 21 May 2007 : 08:30:48
Do you have a copy of Lost Empires of Faerūn? The map included inside provides some idea of the area Netheril once occupied during the Shadowed Age (-626 DR).

As well, the section on "Netheril" in LEoF, as well as the Netheril: Empires of Magic boxed set [available as a free PDF download at WotC], provide regional details on the areas of the Realms that the Netherese once held under their dominion.

I've got that map good but based on RL London England.

For your own campaigns?

Yes, I would imagine it is safe.
shadowni87 Posted - 15 Nov 2006 : 07:40:42
is it safe to use the ones provided by neverwinter nights???
Beirnadri Magranth Posted - 18 Oct 2006 : 17:59:13
I'm sure wizards have used Dolomar's Mapping... oh wait i think thats a S&S spells. nvm! Neverwinter is safe again!

At least it is another reason than the one for Ank Morpork...Neverwinter does not burn down every other month or so and hence people don't bother to draw maps.
The Sage Posted - 17 Oct 2006 : 16:20:46
I'll quote the reason here, for easy reference:-

Nasher doesn't allow maps of the city to be made (hence the lack of one in these pages). This is to keep the spies of Luskan busy and add a minor measure of difficulty to any Luskanite invasion plans.

The Neverwinter entry VGttN tells us why no maps of Neverwinter have ever been printed.

Note to self: take VGttN to read next time.

I think in Volo's Guide to the North, and in the North boxed set...not quite sure about them and too tired to look it up now ;)

thats ironic..I found my Kara-tur map in a prissy old used bok store that would have been to good to have a copy of LoTR, let alone a D&D acessory

The trail maps were ... huge ... it would be nice if there'd be a collection of the FR maps from Dragon a few years ago.

And that's why it's always a good idea to memorise the product codes of various FR products.

Thanks Faraer.

Several years ago, I was in the same boat. I had read all of these great novels and wanted to learn more. I advise that you do like I did and go to your local gaming store and start talking to people. Ours has a bulletin board where prospective players or groups can post notices seeking other gamers. The best way to learn the Realms, in my opinion, is to immerse yourself in them. Find a Realms group, play in their game, and experience it. There's no other way to learn.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the maps for the Castles accessory available for free download at WotC?

Cute...the enthusiasm of youth, I remember the same, bouncing through the Essen Game Fair...at first at least, later on I was too overloaded with stuff...ah the good old days.

You must have gotten the 1e or 2e box set and the laments are used to figure out how far PC's/NPC's have traveled in a day/hour/month/year/etc. There should be some text in the books about it, keep reading. :)
