So, I've compiled a chapter of names of human, male characters from Cormyr for the Everchanging Book of Names. (For those of you not familiar with this program, you can get it here (http://ebon.pyorre.net/), and it's probably the best random name generator around.) I thought I'd make it available here for anyone who could use it.

The list is compiled from canon sources; specifically (so far) the FRCS (3e), FRQ1 Haunted Halls of Eveningstar, and Volo's Guide to Cormyr. I've tried to stick to the Ed Greenwood-penned sources available to preserve the linguistic structure that he gave the dialect. Where there's been doubt as to whether a name was a first name or a surname (usually where the name is that of a business owner), I've tried to err on the safe side and leave it out. Where there's reason to believe a character's not native to Cormyr, I've left him out, except where his land of origin is definitively Chondathan-speaking (Sembia, neighboring heartlands), or where the character is famous enough and long enough dead for the name to have found its way into local use.

The program is shareware, and usable without registration, but I highly recommend purchasing it if you find it useful. Sami has created an absurdly useful tool for roleplayers, and at $10 you can't go too far wrong. The options I've set for the chapter are the ones I've had the best luck with, but play around and see what works for you. In particular, knocking the Fit level down to 2 will result in a much wider variety of names - and some more unusual ones, too.

There are, obviously, more names of kings, nobles, and adventurers available than those of common folk, and the list will reflect that. As such, you should use your own judgement as to which name fits which character. Of course, no random generator can replace your judgement as a DM (or player). It's far from perfect, but such is the way of things.

I have EBoN and I think it is a great program. I would love to see a list of chapters specific to the Realms hosted here

Awesome work, the EBoN is a fantastically useful resource. I think it was Kuje who first alerted me to its existence.
