I am about to unleash my AD&D party into the realms of Tethyr, Amn and Calimshan.
My hopes are that any of you have some ideas, adventure links, general knowledge or anything at all about this area, as i am very inexperienced in playing in that certain region... Lots of DM experience elsewhere, but not there...
Any help is welcomed with open arms... |

Is ordering online an option for you? If so, you may want to check such sites as RPGNow.com and nobleknight.com which offer FR products in PDF format at low prices.
You can try Ebay also, but I find Aaron's efforts over at nobleknight.com to be more satisfying.

Doesn't the LEoF book have something about the history of the South and why certain races are there and what they have become over the years since the Djinn/Efreet war? I know there is a lot of information about the area in some 3E book.

There is lots of great history in this area. I advise anything involving the ancient Dwarven realm of Shanatar. Because it was such a powerful civilization when it flourished long ago and because they were dwarves, you can build giant underground cities for the party to explore.
Another locale in this area I always wanted to work in are teh Islands off the coast of Tethyr. They full of pirates and ghosts. You can't go wrong with this combination! |

Do me a favor, pal-o-mine, and send me copies of those files if you have them. Two hard drive crashes and having 95% of my belongings in storage keep that material out of reach. And I've a yen to reread that stuff now and do something with it.... 
And yes, I'm assuming George has this stored away--he's got a better reference library than any of us aside from Ed or Eric... |

It's not so much changes as deletions. You'd done some text on the discovery of the Zahyra's (Court Mage of Tethyr) tomb and how she existed in ghost-type form and wanted to talk to Zaranda and Haedrak, given that there was some sort of prophecy involving Mystra floating around. I'm also told that the preview for LANDS OF INTRIGUE (which I believe WOtC still has online) has different material in it that was edited out of the print release (and thus isn't in the PDF either).
I'm too close to it, nor have I actually done a line-by-line comparison to see the difference. He of the Krash-Os was the one who pointed it out to me ages ago, and I don't recall the difference.....

Empires of the Sands (an earlier and less expansive detailing of Amn, Tethyr, and Calimshan) is also a possibility, that is, if you can't find EotSS.

No... I have the Forgotten Realms Atlas, sourcebook and Encyclopedia. And of cource the FR base box set. Oh and of course i have the book about Calimport...
