Hello all,

I am considering using The Styes, from Dungeon 121, for my Cormyr campaign and I am wondering of any of the scribes has used, or looked at, this excellent adventure and could share their experiences.

Richard Pett, the writer, suggests using Marsember. This this great, because it somehow fits my campaign, but The Styes is a very dark adventure and may not be suitable for Cormyr as we know it.

Any thoughts? Thank you.

If you have the time, check out Elminster's Daughter, and you will get a pretty good idea of how dark and seedy Marsember can be.

How true - I just read today (again) the entry on Marsember in Voloīs Guide to Cormyr. What a lovely place! (For a DM, I mean ;)
The rest of the country is (or used to be) heavily patrolled by vigilant Purple Dragons and ever-suspicious War Wizards, but Marsember presents so many opportunities for DMs.

I havenīt read this module ("The Styes") either, but it sounds intriguing... deifinitely Marsember would have a proper atmosphere.

I just have to read that novel, as soon as its the shelves in my local store.

We must hope that the next region book will feature Cormyr, and hopefully it would offer much new Realmslore (Edīs maps and notes about Cormyr, and tasty details like the Hullack Circle in F&P). One can always wish

Thanks for your input. I am sorry I did not give more info. The Styes is a kind of Cthulhu adventure, very similar to Shadow over Innsmouth, if I remember it correctly.

I have re-read the adventure. If I change the undead city councelor to a influential undead merchant, and drop the alchemist quarter, I can make it work. I guess the appropriate god for the Elder Elemental Eye is Ghaunandaur.

I cannot confirm it from any of the "god books" (F&A, P&P, or F&P) as I donīt have them at hand right now, but I seem to recall that Élder Elemental Eye" is one of the names for Ghaunadaur in the Realms.

I'm not familiar with the adventure you are talking about but if Cormyr has a seedy, dark underbelly, Marsember is it. Sounds like a good location.

Though I am not familiar with that particular scenario, every country has its darkside. I personally like to show the contrast. Cormyr the bright, shiny and nice smelling example of everything that is good!
ooh waitaminit! What is that under this rock? Ack! Its a plot hook into The Styes, from Dungeon 121! Players beware!
