Posted - 12 May 2005 : 05:14:30 I'm working on some pre-campaign notes, and one of the main villains will be a druid/wizard. He is supposed to be a fallen druid, a former acolyte of Silvanus who now seeks to enslave nature's power for his own needs instead of revering it and bowing down to it's power.
I haven't written stats yet, but I'm thinking about adding the Blighter prestige class. Either way, I need to find a deity that would apply to the situation. Maybe I just overlooked, but I didn't find anything compatible in the FRCS book.
Any suggestions? Maybe in the Faerun pantheon sourcebook? |

Here's an off beat thought, Lolth. She was noted in either Faiths and Avatars or Demihuman Deities as masquerading as Moander among the surface realms....
True... although in my campaign Moander is still alive and (relatively) active. He has not been killed and replaced by Finder Wyvernspur - neither has he lost any worshipers to Lolth´s machinations.
I think there´s something appealing in those slimy "all eyes and tentacles"-type deities who have been plaguing the Realms since the Primordial Times (when they crawled out of their Abysmal pits)
If I remember correctly, only deities with portfolios related to nature (at least marginally) can be chosen as patrons for druids? Since Lolth is not a nature god (even remotely) she could not be chosen as patron for a blighter? Or perhaps I am wrong

Posted - 14 May 2005 : 21:28:13 I think Moander would an excellent choice!
Not to mention that the Lost Empires also contains some information about Him/It. However, I suggest that you take a good look at the list of domains presented there. Personally I have modified Moander´s domains in my campaign followingly: Chaos, Corruption, Destruction, Evil, Plant.
In my opinion the Slime domain is optional, as Moander is usually associated more closely with plants than slimes (which are part of Ghaunadaur´s portfolio), so I decided to drop it.
In my campaign I have also tailored/modified the Blightblinger and Blighter prestige classes to exclusively fit the followers of the Great Dread God.

How about Moander? I know he's 'dead', but as we all know gods only ever get 'mostly dead.' |

Posted - 12 May 2005 : 11:28:30 Talona seems a good choice. Also at a pinch could use Malar, or even someone who exercises domination such as Bane. Gargauth, whilst related to corruption of leaders and groups, seems another possible choice, as he embodies corruption, seizing power etc etc. |
